the best is yet to come in the MW division, for sure. We have a triumvirate of epic proportions shaping up.
I think after 52 fights, its fair to say that we all know where Alvarez stands at. And Mayweather, Khan and Lara already made his weaknesses pretty obvious.
Billy Joe can compete with Canelo and GGG, but I doubt he would beat them both. Good fights though, and id love to see them.
He's #2 or 3 until he faces Jacobs or GGG. Alvarez would be a great match up as well. The boy can definitely box his a$$ off. Very impressive win last night. Shut out
Ok so I just got to see a highlight of the fight. I will wait til I see the whole thing before I make any concrete predictions but BJS didnt look quite as good as I was expecting from going by the talk on here (Dont get me wrong, the outcome speaks for itself... cant take away from that) but I thought he would look a bit sharper than I saw in the highlight. Ill watch the full thing though. I may not be as confident as I was with him vs canelo and Jacobs though going from what I saw. That being said though, again... awesome outcome no question. I look forward to hopefully seeing the full fight.
Just a few days ago nearly everyone agreed Chris Eubank Jr would beat Billy Joe Saunders a second time around, because CEJ was the one who improved while BJS regressed. Now we have threads like these because BJS shut out Lemieux. I also recall Curtis Stevens also outboxing Lemieux (with ease) prior to being knocked out. It's not hard to outbox Lemiuex, all you need is a good job. I personally don't think this is a good indicator for BJS. Willie Munroe gave him a much tougher fight last time around, and that was just months ago. Put Willie Munro back in there last night instead of Lemieux and we'd see the same workman like performance from BJS that we saw months ago. Lemieux is just that type of fighter that if he doesn't knock you out, you can shut him out. BJS does not have what it takes to beat GGG. BJS said GGG would hit nothing but air, but the fact of the matter is GGG's has a better jab than BJS, and hits it with much more force, and can cut off the ring against a running fighter.
Saunders qualified for the Olympics when he was 18, whilst Eubank Jr was fighting in car parks and sitting on his dad's knee. There's levels. Saunders would always beat Eubank Jr. Saunders can be guilty of fighting to the level of his opponent in some fights which give people false hope of him losing to inferior boxers. BJS will only possibly have defeats to the elite come the end of his career.
