I am telling you, it cant change due to what it is. Well, it could change if they stopped bringing in rejects from other sports, but they cant afford to do so.
And even then it could still not work due to the injury rate. Any young talent they bring in will get burnt out relatively fast in comparison to other sports.

BKB has been running since 2015, and what do they have to show for it? The most fights any of their current champions has had is 15, and only 2 of them have 10 or more wins to their names. In fact, a handful of their roster has more than 10 fights to their name.

So yes, while BKFC can be entertaining, I do not think we should accept its existence. Its proof that our societies are decaying and moving backwards. Boxing adopted the usage of gloves, weight classes, Queensberry rules in order to protect the athletes, to make the fights more fair.
And while I am all for freedom of choice, I will not stand for a sport preying on the weak and the downtrodden. Ffs, 3 of BKFC´s current champions are over the age of 40.

I mean bro...... boxing still has problems with guys fighting way past their prime too and there's always a backwater commission that will let them fight on anyways. At least BKFC is a level playing field more or less. I've been critical of it as well, the retirement home aspect and fighters lowering themselves. It's definitely gotten a bit better. I've enjoyed a lot of the UFC crossovers namely Perry/Mendes/Alvarez fights. It's more legit that a lot of the other nonsense going on in the combat sports world as well. It's definitely here to stay so we should support it and encourages its promoters to do better.

Sure, boxing has en elder issue too, but the sport is not built off of their backs. And frankly, bare knuckle is much more brutal. You yourself have seen how many knockdowns there are in every event, how few fights sometimes make it to the cards, all of the deep cuts the fighters sustain, and how many hand injuries happen.

If the sport was not so brutal, I would not have an issue with it. Whats next, headbutts? Meanwhile in boxing if you wrap your hands a little wrong its treated the same as padding the gloves with heavy material, but at the same time we allow bare knuckle boxing... Its ridiculous.

But BKFC is here to stay, at least for a while, so maybe they can prove me wrong. But I bet even 10 years from now we wont see anyone with a 20 fight record, because no one makes it that far, no matter the age they start.

    I like Lethwei too lol.

I'm more worried about a non fighter getting killed in some bs like Street Beefs or some influencer crap.

    Interesting.

    Why ban it though?

If grown men want to do it, and other grown men want to watch it, and the only ones effected are the adults involved, what's the basis for the unaffected outsiders who dont like it to ban it? Not to mention taking away money opportunities from men who are good at it that dont fit as well into actual boxing.
Seems to come from the same vein as the people that want to ban regular boxing, no?

    .......

Personally I like it lol. Makes boxing look a bit fake in comparison, imo. It made me realize a lot of the hierarchy of combat sports is slightly an illusion created by the large gloves.

As for damage, most of it is far less severe than what pro boxers actually take. I'd take broken hands and scar tissue but less brain damage any day.

People tend to overlook the fact that boxing gloves often contribute to increasing brain damage over the course of a career in combat sports by prolonging beatings that would have been stopped sooner in a more natural environment (bare knuckle).

I hear you though its a brutal and grotesque sport. Some of the aftermaths of even short'ish fights are shocking.

Kinda strips the nobility away from boxing. But I kinda like that too, because thats the reality of it.

I agree with you, there is a speedbump to prominence baked into the sport itself. I dont see how they can have career longevity enough to build stars, though it would seem that Perry and hunt are challenging that notion a bit.

I think their way forward might have to be a continuous bringing in of established names from more stable sports, like they currently do. And since that will almost always be over the hill names, thats an issue for their brand obviously.

But again, there's some guys I think that are showing if youre built a certain way you can have plenty of bk fights.

That's obviously a talent pool problem, and has nothing to do with the nature of the sport.

If the sport had elite strikers doing it, the skills displayed would be elite.

Any sport is only at the level of the talent pool its drawing from.

Here's my thing, I'm a Queensberry boxing guy, through and through. To me, any of these variants are lesser forms of boxing, by definition.

I suppose theoretically this stuff could be at a higher skill level than the glorified barroom brawls I watched last night, but even if it were I would still prefer the sport of boxing I grew up with - this stuff just doesn't compare!

Perry was a popular MMA guy beforehand tho, and even then he only has had 6 bareknuckle fights.

I touched this in an earlier post. My problem with the sport is that its predatory and has built itself off of combatants who were at the end of their careers in other sports.
And I am not buying that bareknuckle is a safer sport when there are so many knockdowns all of the time. Also, its a sport where barely anyone has over 10 fights on their record, let alone 20.

If bare knuckle had actual prospects, or just whomever that they built up themselves, I would be more fine with the sport. Heck, I would probably be fine with the short careers if the sport was filled with its own talent pool instead of building itself off of combatants that were rejected by other sports.
