I wonder how a prime Mike Tyson would do in an event like this.

I'm not basing it on puritanical sensibilities. I just think this could go terribly wrong and with so many out of work lawyers...I agree with you, the bloodlust is pretty amazing, the fans want bread and circuses and, by God, the TV execs are going to deliver to the best of their (ratings) abilities. Seems there is next to nothing these guys won't do to make a buck.

Across the Atlantic? This is a distinctly American program, that is the whole point and why it has its alleged "historical value" at the forefront of its selling points. Bareknuckle in the UK has continued to live & thrive in the last century-plus despite being a fossil on this side of the pond.

When is this hot wreck taking place again?

Thing that gets me about these promotions (Which go all the way back to various formats of the Toughman contest back in the 70's and into the 80's) so many of which have sprung up in the past few years... they never stick around and build up any kind of momentum. If you include the amount of folded MMA organizations, many of which also had slight format and rules changes, the list becomes enormous.

Even with BKB or whatever the **** it was called, they attempted to have ex-boxers like Granados, Karass, Stevens and Rosado active on their cards. They even had a championship on one of those guys. But, again, does that company even exist anymore?

    Saturday night.

And the guy running this I think used to be a honcho @ BKB, so this might be his attempt to revive his dream like a Phoenix up from that organization's ashes.

I would love to see him get some legitmate momentum and make something out of this, whatever the foundation of it may look like. Competition in combat sports, even wrestling, benefits everyone. Look at when wrestling was at it's absolute peak and how many options one had to choose from.

Yeah, the fact that Bobby Gunn and Paul Spadafora comprise the biggest names on his roster by far (to a boxing demographic anyway; for MMA fans the names Rodriguez & Baroni probably carry far more weight - but same deal, while recognizable neither is a MAJOR acquisition that will leave the marquee glittering and have throngs @ the gates) bodes poorly and suggests that for a last-ditch all-in start-up, his pockets are not that deep and he's going to wind up just wasting the remainder of his nest egg - but still, there's a hard limit on how much cynicism anyone can direct at new combat sports ventures. Literally nobody in the 90's believed the UFC had a prayer of becoming a viable entity, and lo & behold it launched an entire sport that is every bit as global as boxing and in terms of visibility and casual interest, in many arenas has surpassed it. Once bitten, twice shy.

Julian Lane "Let me bang bro." known for his drunken meltdown on TUF and becoming a huge meme in MMA circles had some really surprising success in BKB. Then again... He's not a shot approaching or past? 40 Baroni or Rodriguez. Baroni was always a natural puncher so seeing him in BKB is kind of intriguing even if it's YEARS past from when it actually would have been interesting. Speaking of.... a mid 90s Tank Abbott in BKB would be ****ing sweet. That guy could hit was mean. He'd have done surprisingly well in BKB I think. What the hell is the appeal in Rodriguez though? He was a BJJ guy first and foremost. Certainly not known for his power like Baroni was.

BKFC isn't BKB (as in the company, that put on shows a few years ago with Bobby Gunn as HW champ, and in which Gabe Rosado as probably its biggest star, kayoing Bryan Vera, then drawing with Curtis Stevens). Some of the same people involved behind it, but this a new brand with its own distinct rule set. This is supposed to more closely approximate 19th century bare knuckle. Except weirdly, they've contradicted that avowed goal by disallowing clinches.

Depends. I might actually be slightly more interested to read the next chapter in my textbook, on inpatient anesthesia procedural codes. o_O Let's see what time it ends up being after studying.. might tune in hoping to catch Gunn and Spadafora, if nothing else.
