Blake Ferguson debut

I respectfully disagree that they're bad for the sport.

There simply isn't enough boxing fans in Australia, so decent up-and-comers don't necessarily draw the crowds. Everybody knows about Mundine, SB Williams and Hopoate's career's inside the ring, but what percentage of aussies do you think even know who Sakio Bika is?

Barry Hall would have been awesome for boxing. Imagine the publicity a Hall vs SBW or Hall vs Kimbo Slice would have brought boxing in Australia. They should have thrown that much money at Hall that he couldn't refuse.

I do agree though, that having someone like Ferguson make his debut on a card that already has Mosley on it isn't great for the sport. Because it wont bring anymore interest to the event and most likely will be a boring and one-sided bout.

SBW vs Kimbo Slice would bring massive interest to the sport. Getting Jake King (AFL player) in the ring would bring massive interest to the sport, I've seen him hit the pads and he's a gun with his punches and a super-athlete. Any other high-profile aussie athlete would bring massive interest to the sport and even more so than say an actual very decent up-and-coming boxer with huge potential.

 

Boxing is just adapting to the new generations of fighters don't want to dedicate themselves to the craft - generation here and now... It's becoming more of an entertainment business wherein these circuits acts have a platform - because the fans want entertainment, they don't want to see boxers just box...... Most fans these days would rather see Barry Hall Vs Kimbo Slice, which is sad.. Thankfully Barry Hall had more respect for the sport of boxing than the clowns who support circuits acts like Slice.
What is more pathetic is that blokes like SBW are gifted world titles fighting has beens, then as soon as a real fighter wants to fight them - they run scurrying back to their other sports, it's the newest version of the duck.. It's disrespectful for the sport of boxing, all these circuits acts are, but these clowns won't get KO'd because they don't fight any real fighters.

its a joke, there should be some sort of standard for what is shown on tv, he has been training a full 2 weeks, i dont care to see this spastic on the tv set...
as soon as Mundine is knocked out by Mosley and he annouces his retirement australian boxing can move forward
