7-5 is not a robbery. Watching it live, I had Kovalev by a few. Re-watched and had K by a round. There were a lot of close rounds. Later in the fight, Ward did make Kovalev miss quite a bit and he also landed a lot of good body shots. To do what Ward did and come back the way he did after what happened early in the fight against Kov was something.
1 point either way is a good card. I can't say I'm shocked to see people still complaining about the fight as if it was a major robbery of Holyfield-Lewis 1 type levels. People should really be blaming Kovalev for letting Ward get back into the fight instead of calling Ward a POS which alot of the fans on this board seem to condone.
There are scenarios where Kov won and there are scenarios where Ward won. There are influential people who say Kov won but there are also influential people that say Ward won. It's a dozen in one and twelve in the other. The three judges went with the Ward scenario but some gents refuse to accept that and they sit on their sacks and whine in pain when all they have to do is get up off their sacks and keep it moving and wait for the rematch.
Please give examples of the "Wardo's" crying when things don't go their way! You probably don't know or interact with the Wardo's other than on this site!
I think it is a typo for gay.. Or maybe abbreviation for Galaxy, I hate to second guess people's mind.
GAY! ME? Why I never! I'm beyond insulted by his crass accusation! In fact, I love women, all kinds of women, tall, short, cute, ugly, fat, skinny, white, black, Asian, Mexican, I even dated a paralyzed midget who was an Afro-American bi-sexual.
Ha! Its you're or you are....that's besides the point. I'm disappointed at the fact that you didn't have a better response.....makes sense since your viewpoint on the fight is so concentrated on what SK was able to produce that you instinctively ignore want Ward accomplished. I've gotten better at managing my expectations from posters on this site, my upbringing is quite unique and while everyone knows New York not everyone has been raised there so our perspective is, at times, profoundly different when compared to the rest of America. Good luck enjoying life in you're small, incomplete pocket of the world if that's what makes simple people happy than please remain happy. BTW I'm not gxy I just decided getting head from your mum was better then penetration, good decision on my part.
This **** is why boxing is dying. I score the fight based on the proper "nuthugger" scoring system: 1. if the fighter I find sexually attractive does a "catchy" move like dodging an attempted hit, I give them that round. 2. If the fighter who is a good talker or I just like their undefeated record, they will start with extra points and I can extra points at the end of the last fighting period. 3. Boxers from my country are the best and get extra points. 4. At the end of the match my man should get the most points. If the umpire gives him the most points, I agree and talk about his incredible dodging moves and ability not to get knocked to the canvas.
Ah .. very clear. It is called the Welsh scoring system after Joe Calzaghe. That methodology has been on Eastside for the longest time. I think Frank Warren had something to do with it being so pervasive here on "Eastside" way back in the beginning ...
I'm going to entertain your ******ed post which in no way reflects why I scored the fight for Ward. So I'll rehash my thoughts on this fight for the millionth time. Let's see if you actually have a normal rebuttal. One, Kov was limited to only landing the jab for the majority of the fight. When I say majority of the fight, I mean literally the majority of the fight. Where was his right hand after round 2? I've asked this question multiple times to multiple people who said Kov won and not one of them has responded to it. Maybe you can give me your two cents on that. It's clear it was only effective for one round. My next point. Let's talk about jabs since this was really the only punch Kov could land on Ward. Although Ward didn't buckle Kov with his own jab, he was basically just as effective with his own jab. Snapped Kov's head back plenty of times. Let's even say for arguments sake, let's give Kov the slight edge in jabs. What about other types of punches after round 2? Ward was able to land the jab as well and it started in round 3 but as the fight wore on he was able to add more variety such as the left hook and clean, clear body punching. Variety of landed shots goes to Ward clearly. If you see otherwise, please explain. Next point the mental battle. After round 2 Ward came right at Kovalev which I'm sure didn't even fathom the possibility after the scoring the KD. It threw Kov so off balanced that he became frustrated and awkwardly tried to give Ward dap who in no way intended to oblige such a gesture. So moving forward over a stretch of the fight which is now a dog fight. Boxing has been thrown out of the window. Kovalev becomes more focused on trying to out wrestle Ward. He's missing punches. He's not effectively cutting off the ring. Ward is making it an ugly fight but he's putting in work little by little as momentum slightly builds more to his side as the fight wears on. If you disagree and want to sit here and tell me Kov was able to stop Wards momentum, I'm all ears but I have a feeling you do not have a case in the matter at all. So yeah, even Kovs trainer tells Kov in between rounds to stop engaging in the wrestling. As we all know Kov doesn't like to listen to his trainer. Keep in mind as well as this is going on Kov's losing sting in his punches. He's clearly showing fatigue. Wards catching up on punches landed but at a higher connect percentage. Finally the stubborn Kov after taking an overhand left that sent his head underneath the top ropes finally starts to awaken out of trying to out machismo Ward and goes back to boxing in the 10th round. 10 round is the best case and only round you could've gave Kov in the back 6. He started landing clear jabs again. But it was a back and forth round. Ward landed just as many jabs as he did. Ward just happened to get caught while showboating. But, Ward landed left hooks and body shots in that round. Regardless of who you gave the round too just know that HBO decided to showcase a missed right hand Kov was credited for landing over any of his jabs that round. Kov threw more and landed more in round 10 according to compubox. I'm not mad at anyone who gave Kov that round. But here's a telling thing in the next round. Ward comes back and gets round 11 clearly. His best sequence was a left hook to the body followed by a left hook up top. Kov is gasping for air and his fight for round 10 clearly took a toll on his stamina. Even during a clinch, the more fresh Ward was able to push Kov to the ground. Kov struggles to get back up. Has to roll over to his his frontside and climb back up from his knees. Round 12, I'm going to keep it short. Ward landed the bigger, cleaner shots period. Even ended the round by landing 2 to 3 body shots on Kov right before the bell rings. Now see how I can describe what I saw in the fight. I've yet to see one Kov fan describe anything at all other than majority of people and media felt Kov won or dramatic bs that the fight was a blantant robbery. I've seen no analysis on this fight from a poster who felt Kov won. I know you don't have a rebuttal for this post. I think you're just a butt hurt individual. You're ludicrous and asinine reply to my prior post suggests so. Tell me how you saw the fight without the butt hurt emotion. I'm heterosexual btw. That gay Freudian slip projection came from your mind. Ward won the fight. He has no influence over judges and contrary to popular belief, he had no advantages over Kov politically especially as a "boring" black fighter who's had to go on BET. HBO clearly holds Kov in higher regard so I don't want to hear any conspiracy theories. Give me a coherent reason why Kov won. Please.
Thank you for typing, I admire your enthusiasm. English is my 4th language, there is no way I'm gonna re watch the fight and jot down everything punch by punch and reiterate like you did. I have watched it twice and that's more than enough. You do the back 6 very nicely and I don't want to argue too much. But I gave all the first 6 to kov except for the 4th. So it is still 114-113 giving your back 6 all the benefit of the doubts. Now, how can you rebutt that!!!
Well pal, majority of people gave Kov round 4, so did I. That said, got to say there's probably no point going back and forth with you on that alone. I gave rounds 3 and 5 to Ward. There's very good cases that even Kov fans would understand why those rounds were given to Ward. I guess my only rebuttal is to maybe watch the fight again lmao.
Ok, I'll be honest, when I watch first time I gave ward round 5 only in the first 6. As I said I only watch twice. The second time watching was from a YouTube post with a slight above angle that was posted here. I saw round 3 and 5 for kov quite clearly. But round 4 was close.
