No S, but I remember Pete Mead well. An acquaintance of mine Harold Green decisioned Mead in the 1940s. Mead was a tough fighter from upstate NY , I recall...
Yes S, I knew Harold Green as our father's worked together. I saw Harold Green fight Rocky Graziano a couple of times at the Garden. On a personal level he never mentioned any shenanigans in his ko at the hands of Graziano. After Rocky died he, Green , claimed in a Ring Mag article ,he took a dive in their last fight in 1945. I saw a young Harold Green get flattened by my favorite lightweight from Canada, Johnny Greco. Later on in 1950 I watched Harold Green flatten the young prospect Joey Giardello in the 6th round with a Dempsey like left hook. And I recall seeing Harold Green , the day after he was kod by Marcel Cerdan in 1947. He told a few of us, in the first round clinch, I knew Cerdan was too strong for me ". He was right, for Marcel kod Green in the 2nd rd. I spoke to him last, about a year before he moved to California, and he had all his marbles then...Every fight he was in was a war... Cheers S...
