Shields is boring as **** to watch. The UFC middleweight division is already stacked.The kid has a nice record but don't ignore the obvious. Every time SF has a show on a UFC PPV either clashes with it or Dana has some UFC re-run on the same day. Facts is Dana wants to crush ALL his opposition. You know this and i know this.

 

While loving MMA his job is to crush the competition and maintain the UFC as the NFL of MMA. It is his livelyhood. What else do we expect him to do? Give SF GSP?

 

Daley gets the boot but BJ gets to stay despite holding the sub onJens for too long. Dana done the same BS with Sobral. Except Sobral got jack laid and BJ despite publically falling out with the UFC and fighting for Japanese rivals during his brief stint away from the UFC got a bly. Hmm i wonder why...

If you actually think Dana cares about the sport of MMA id like to take you surfing on the Thames. Fact is Dana is a business man FIRST and foremost and thats it. He's double standard glows as bright as he's shiny dome and along with the naievty that some fans are willing to believe that Dana is in this altruistic reasons.

 

Poor analogy. First off as iv said umpteen times the UFC is NOT a league. Its not comparable whatsoever to the NFL which is comprised of individual franchises with an umbrella of governance. The UFC IS a franchise that is responsible to the sole proprietors Dana and the Ferrita brothers. And franchise's as you would expect look after their best interests.

Secondly SF don't court UFC fighters. There not in any position to. Fact is Dana directly targets and markets against the SF. Why? What for? SF have a tiny market share compared to the UFC. Why cant they coexist? Why prevent SF for making bread? SF isnt asking for favors from the UFC there just trying to make a buck and also give fighters OPTIONS to do the same.

 

I'm not saying that Dana wanting to crush SF isn't one of the reasons but you can't say its the only reason. The fact that the UFC's weight classes are already stacked (he'll be fighting at 170 btw) is academic. Why don't you want to see Shields against the best in the world at his natural weight class? Maybe his fights will get more interesting once he's faced with elite competition. Be honest Scurla you can't tell me you don't want to see Alves/Shields.

 

Are you kidding? As a fighter i have zero interest in Shields. He's way to boring for me. But i LURVE Alves. He's going to knock seven bells of **** out of Shields. Shields wont be in the UFC for long anyway. He's not marketable enough plus he's not good enough to beat the best welters/middles in the world.

Shields is better than people give him credit for. I dont find him boring, but Im not a fan either. I dont think he can beat Gsp but Ill bet he can beat a whole lot of the ufc welterweight roster.
