(Bob Arum addresses a packed press conference/street fair for the final leg of the De La Hoya/Pacquiao promotional tour in East Los Angeles with thousands of Mexican American De La Hoya supporters in attendance.)

"I sort of feel like the way John McCain would feel doing a campaign rally in Harlem. 90,000 million Filipino's in the Philippines, and 9 million Filipinos around the world are backing Manny Pacquiao. But, if you want to root for Manny Pacquiao, know that many Mexicans are backing Manny Pacquiao. We have many in formation, Mexicans for Manny, and let me tell you some of the people who have already joined up - Antonio Margarito, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Erik "El Terrible" Morales - all for Manny, Jorge Arce - for Manny. So we want to get as many Mexicans backing Manny Pacquiao, because on December 6th Manny will prove to everybody he is the greatest fighter in the world."

(Quite a scene. Arum appeared to virtually silence a crowd that was loudly booing him when he opened with his comments. De La Hoya looked like a worm squirming around on a hook when Arum started talking about Mexican support for Pacquiao. The crowd seemed to go dead, and then there were cheers for Arum's statements mixed in with what sounded like collective confusion. De La Hoya got mangled up pretty bad in his hometown.)

Any Mexican rooting for PAc should be taken out back and shot lol. I expect a lot of these threads like this...dissing Dlh because he didn't fight AM. The true Mexican boxing fan will root for Dlh regardless. As much as the Mexican fans love Pac, it would be stupid to root for a man who has been beating the best your country has to offer.

As long as the *******s don't show up before Dec 6th and mess things up, support for Pac will continue to grow!

DLH dont give a **** about the whole Mexican thing its a ploy by him. If he really cared what Mexicans think he never would have brutally beaten the Mexican hero Julio Cesaer Chavez twice. Doing the same in the rematch was basically a kick in the face to Mexicans. Oscar is a great fighter but as person he leaves alot to be desired he says and does alot of questionable things I see him as the type of kid who back in school would start rumors or pretend to be your best freind and have you get your ass kicked.

IDIOTAGE, you aren't intelligent enough to determine if someone is pressing an agenda when they make a thread. Know why? Because you're trying to make that statement, and I could give a mother****. Spare me the mindless bull****, troll.

Possibly, although at the same time there are alot of people who believe that nothing bothers De La Hoya more than this "Mexican" stuff. In his book he talks about it ALOT. He certainly has shown signs, and he is human. It's hard to imagine it isn't extremely important to him somehow.

Please, I saw the same thing happen when Morales beat Zarragoza on a lower scale. Every other race, whether white or black have beaten the old champ of their race/ethnicity. The young contender getting his shot was booed fight night, and when it came time to fight their prime op in their next big fight, the Mexican crowd loved their countryman. The Mexican crowd loves Dlh. They loved him when he fought Floyd. They booed him for beating Chavez the way he did, they were shaky before he fought Vargas, and they loved him after he beat Vargas. The Mexican fans are fans I respect because they stick with their own, and there is nothing wrong with that. Black and white fans imo, and imo seem to root for the better fighter regardless of race, but all races root for their own. Doesn't make those types of fans better than any other fan imo. I'm just giving it to guys from my point on how I saw things when I visited other cities for fights.

of course its important to hoya. do you think he was waving the mexican flag, when he won the gold medal, as a gag? im glad he is getting all this **** thrown at him, it will increase the chances of him facing margarito in an attempt at redemption in the eyes of his mexican fans.
