    i think they mean defend it and then go for the real thing against john but i agree with you before they make the fight happen with juanma gamboa needs to beat chris john or juarez in order to make him more popular to make the money good just like you said it wouldnt happen now

    I agree, this fight takes time to grow big, and it came become HUGE!

    Quite interestingly though, Gamboa already had 2 HBO main events and several main ones on Showtime and ESPN in just 15 fights, so my guess would be he's the better known and better paid fighter today.

    But it doesn't matter. The fight needs to be built up properly, and Gamboa is just starting to fight on the top level, being just 2 years into pro fighting. Both Gamboa and the classy JuanMa are superstar material, and in a year or so when they will be much bigger, everybody will demand this fight. Öner probably took all possibilities before signed with Top Rank and took the JuanMa road (Shaw and Rafael Marquez, GBP and Chris John etc).

    Just... forget about these stupid Latin Fury cards.

    I also want to see how long can Gamboa stay at 126lbs. He has been around 130lbs for most of his fights. I wonder if he is having any difficulties to make the weight.

    He said maybe 2 or 3 more years at 126 in his most recent interview on the scene. It seems with proper full-time training and resting period between fights, making 126 is not such a big deal.

    Yeah HBO is doing big HOOAHS for this kid. But who has he fought?? NOBODY!! Next opponent has been KO 5 times.

    i also heard that hbo really wanted him on a couple of fights but his team distanced him from them for a little bit after the marcos ramirez fight because max talked so much **** about him but i dont know if it's true, i just saw an hbo commercial a while ago and he was one of the new faces of hbo featured and i heard they are very interested in him.

    he said he wont stick at 126 forever once he thinks he did what he wanted to accomplish at 126 he will move up to 130 which will probably be in 2 years or so

    for 15 fights his competition hasnt been bad at all , and pretty soon he will take on the top of the division, they were trying to fight mario from pr next but couldnt make it work i think mario was fighting at the end of june , mario is a top 10 featherweight in my opinion or at least a top 15, when my boy lopez had 15 fights his competition wasnt top level either

    Compare Gamboa's first 2 years with JuanMa's. Seriously, visit boxrec and do just that.

    But I have to agree, he's getting a pretty awful opponent in his Top Rank debut, Espadas Jr. would've been much better.

    meaning: Gamboa is not even a legit world champion yet, and before having big fights with Lopez he should become a proper champ, not just a "WBA regular" champion. Not complicated.

    OK. I agree. when you said "Upgrade" for some reason I thought you wanted him to be " super champion" or some **** like that. LOL... Damn it, I need some coffee

    Something sounds awfully filler-ish about the first half of his quotes. I'd love to see Gamboa vs JuanMa and I think at 126, that's a BIG BIG fight. Make it happen Bob and I'll let you slide on the whole no Abraham vs Pavlik business.
