That's true, but this is a slightly different circumstance. This is two of his biggest money clients. He's made promises to them. If he breaks the promise, he stands to lose the clients. The right play here is to make it LOOK like you're keeping your promise at first, and then to change things up later on once the circumstances are right to do so. To change things right now would be jumping the gun. The California Commission could come back and say there was no foreign substance (though that seems unlikely), in which case there's no problem if the fight goes on as planned. The Commission probably will come back and say he was loading, in which case he'll be suspended in June anyway and Arum will be 'forced' to cancel the fight. But at least he saves his own face that way. Make sense? If Arum forces down a Clottey-Cotto fight instead of negotiating a Mosley rematch, then we can go back to calling him old greedy Bob Arum, but right now he's acting in everyone's best interest.
He doesn't have to break any promise. All it take is Cotto saying: "I want Mosley". Mosley is already calling him out. Like I said before. If he losses to Mosley(FOR BIG MONEY) He can still fight Margarito. But if he losses to Margarito again........ (For less money) Mosley will have no reason to fight him. deal:deal
Arum just lost a huge chunk of his cash cow in Margarito. Margarito lost a lot of stock when he got his face re-arranged Saturday night. Arum is not in the business of throwing all of his fighters at the same guy. Just like when Margo lost before, Arum is not going to risk losing both belts with the same guy. He will keep Cotto away from Shane. He already escaped once with a close victory, and I would be shocked if he gives Shane a second crack at Cotto. He will make up some excuse about how he doesn't like working with his promoter, or some bull**** like that.
The fight deserves a rematch. Arum will do anything for money. Arum is already looking for replacements for these guys as he should. PAc, Cotto and AM...are near the end. Arum put a strangle hold on boxing, and gave us some of the fights we wanted to see, but not nearly all the matches that boxing or what us fans deserved to see.
and what if mosley beats cotto? what if williams and margarito get it on now and williams wins(which he prob would)? there are many outcomes that could destroy a margarito cotto fight! cotto, for pure legacy and pride, must fight margarito! then he can fight mosley after that! besides it was a classic fight, and the manner he lost needs justification!if cotto can beat margarito his demons may be cleansed! i see what your saying, but i just dont agree!yes i`m a cotto fan, but certainly not a fanboy!i would love to see a mosley cotto rematch, but for many more reasons i feel margarito is a more important fight long-term!! do you see my point at all?????
Ever heard of a qualifier in language? My very first sentence reads: "If the allegations are true..." and logically, the rest follows from that premise. Reread before posting nonsense.
