Bob Arum is scared of Winky, just like he is scared of PBF

Why does Winky deserve a shot at the title over the mandatory?

I see a lot more people talking about business sense of not fighting Wright, but when another fighter can make more money or become more marketable by taking another route the guys on these boards bust his balls and calls anyone who talks about business a nut hugger. I'm confused. its okay for Arum to do this with his boys but not okay for Floyd to do this so that he can set up future WWE matches for 20 mil? yeah this must be way over my head because that logic makes absolutely no sense

GL: Mayweather-Cotto, will it ever happen?

BA: "It certainly would happen if we had our druthers. Cotto wants the fight and I want the fight, Mr. Mayweather I doubt wants the fight."

GL: Although Mayweather would probably tell you you're in no position to make him any offers since he's Mayweather and your guy is the B side. In the past, you made it clear that you were willing to offer Mayweather $8M to fight Margarito, how much money is Top Rank willing to guarantee Mayweather for the Cotto fight?

BA: "First Mayweather has to indicate to us that he's interested...

GL: (cutting in) He never indicated that he was interested in Margarito and that didn't stop you making any offers?

BA: "I understand, but I've been through that once already with Mr. Mayweather and he will not fight anybody who has a remote chance of beating him. Until Mayweather says that he'll fight Cotto, I'm not going to do anything."

The notion of boxing promoters being scared is ludicrous. Part of a promoter's job is to assess risk and manage uncertainty. Achieving the optimal balance between return and risk is a sign of good management, not that he's scared.

The fact that he says the fight would not sell is ridiculous. He's lying because he believes Winky can do damage to his fighter, but will never admit it publicly. Pavlik has no bigger draw to fight at 160. Tito said not, and nobody knows who Abraham is over here (at least not yet). Nobody even cares about Duddy or Lorenzo.

Arum is pissed at Winky because he offered Winky a fight with Pavlik when Pavlik was on his way up, and winky turned it down, and then after pavlik became champ winky pretty much demanded a fight with him. Arum told him to get in line. However, I think we will still see this fight. Pavlik will starch Abraham later this year. Winky REALLY needs a tune up, so in the interim Winky needs to beat a top 10 guy, maybe on a Pavlik undercard. That would make Pavlik/Winky a huge fight. And hey, this is boxing; what seems nearly impossible now may be highly probable 6 months from now.

How old are you? 15 or something? Or is that just your intelligence level?

You just continue to show how clueless and pettty you are. You do a great job at that at least.
