Not really. Ali Frazier I was unprecedented in the fact that it was the first time in history where two undefeated HW champions contested the HW title. Plus, Ali was a larger than life figure during that time.

IMO, in terms of historical significance, Mayweather Pacquiao comes nowhere near Ali Frazier I.

100 years from now people will still talk about Ali Frazier I. Nobody will give a **** about Mayweather Pacquiao...

The cultural and political atmosphere have to weigh in as well during that time verses this time, that fight also had a ton of cultural implications, which Ali used to his advantage in promoting the fight, very unfairly to manipulate the viewpoint on Frazier. Also, it appears that due to less sports available, and boxing being more popular, and less entertainment options... that fight had the entire world watching. People are more insular about their interests nowadays, so yeah, I don't see any fight touching that one.

 

What's new is you floyd fanboys can chill the **** out some now with the 'Arum is trying to keep GBP out of it' ****.

 

The parameters of the deal was already worked out. Only thing that needed to be done was a rescheduled date, and an acceptance of blood testing.

Trying to make a whole new contract will make the fight even harder to make. It is better to strike while the iron is hot, put parameters that are already agreed to and make the fight happen.

The best deal for Manny would be to fight Mayweather with a guaranteed 50 or so mil as well as a % of American and overseas PPV.

 

Don't you think the new contract would already have in place any accomodations they've already agreed to? Either way, you can't just go over the old contract w/ white out, change a few things, have them sign and viola! Fight made. Doesn't work that way.

What I'm saying is neither side should look to be changing anything on the parameters they already agreed to knowing how hard this fight has been to make. Just looking at things logically.

They were able to work out everything but blood testing, that is no longer an issue supposedly so then they should be good. With these egos any little thing can kill this fight. I don't see what was so wrong with the deal they first constructed that it needs to be redone. They aren't going to make more money fighting anyone else, there are no better fights or deals out there.

 

I hear what you are saying. Wasn't disagreeing, was more adding on. But the way I see it, with both parties finally able to at least disucss this, I doubt anyone would change anything that was previously agreed on.

 

We've been patient..No reason for it not to happen? Do you watch boxing, are you familiar with the the beef with Arum and Golden boy? The history between Floyd and Arum? I could go on. He's talking about a deal. In the first negotiation Floyd agreed to a 50/50 split. I'm sure he is reasonable enough to know that is fair. Arum is holding it up because he doesn't want to lose to a golden boy fighter especially Floyd. Arum is milking PAC and he will end up blowing the fight if PAC loses. Arum wants Marquez again WHY? Marquez has his number move on...He wants Cotto again..WHY, Cotto isn't smart enough to simply box PAC and he won't get a decision even if he boxed smart. He wants Bradley WHY, he is simply a toprank token black fighter just like Clottey that is there to prove to the people that PAC isn't afraid of taking on an elite black fighter should they run from Floyd. Arum is full of B.S. why are you not realizing that? We want to see Floyd and PAC put it on the line and nothing more.
