Nah I don't think he was running away from Loma. He just saw a way to make some easy money against a big name fighter in Broner.

But he's staying there to fight Lipnets. A small name fighter. I'd understand the money grab for a single fight at 140. But now he's staying at 140 when he has unfinished business at 135. I support fighters moving up when they have done everything they can do at a weight class or to fight a bigger challenge. But Garcia has plenty of unfinished business at 135.

You look at a guy like Loma there was nothing left for him at 126 so he left. Now the other beltholders like Davis are either flat ducking him or they're like Berchelt who have too much to lose with an embarrassing loss to Loma. I support Loma going to 135 because that's the only place where he can anybody decent who would take a fight.

I agree he has unfinished business at 135 and thought he was going to fight Easter jr after the linares fight didn't happen. He needs to get back down to 135 after this stay busy fight with lipnets

Bro, Arum may just be full of it, he also said that making Mayweather vs Pacquiao would be no problem in 2010.
    We waited 5 years.
Arum said making Garcia vs Gamboa was coming.
    Never happenend.
Maybe this ESPN deal makes Bob honest.

He has claimed he will move back down to 135 to fight linares after the lipinets fight but saying is one thing doing is a whole different story.

Garcia will have been at 140 for almost an entire year after Lipinets fight so why do people think he will fight at a lower weight post hoc as well?

Telling Arum how to promote and what to pay fighters is a national past time of the experts on this board.

He wouldn't make big fights for DLH, Cotto and Mayweather without getting more than his share of the pie. They left and made A LOT more money without Bob. That's reality.

Pac isn't brave enough to venture out on his own. At his age, it's too late. Loma seems to be OK with the arrangment. You can make a lot of money with Bob BUT you can make a lot more on your own if you're a big star.

Truly ignorant post. Here are fights that the public claimed Bob Arum would never in a million years make because they involved his cash cows or future cash cows:
    • Pacquiao-Marquez III (too close w/ I and II)
    • Pacquiao-Marquez IV (too close w/ III; no way Arum risks Pacquiao losing to a roided Marquez and permanently derailing a Mayweather fight)
    • Pacquiao-Bradley (Bradley was too slick, too black, too American, too young, too hungry, too prime)
    • Pacquiao-Cotto (Cotto was too big)
    • Pacquiao-De La Hoya (Oscar was too big)
    • Donaire-Rigondeaux (Donaire was heir to the Pacquiao throne)
    • Lomchenko-Rigondeaux (Rigondeaux too skilled)
    • Chavez Jr.-Martinez (son of a legend and Mexican superstar in the making)
These are EIGHT RECENT EXAMPLES of fights that the public said Arum would never make.

Everyone wanted to see him against Linares/Easter/Loma.
    Not collecting a trinket.
