here is the bobfather's latest quote regarding the subject of JuanMa vs Gamboa. from ring mag website.

“I know what people want and they can go [expletive] themselves,” Arum said with great exuberance. “I want to wait and build this to be the biggest featherweight fight of all time. It’s my job as a promoter to do that. When they fight, they’ll fight to be best featherweight in the world. I want to see those two clean out the division and I don’t want to see them rush to fight each other. There’s no way I want to rush and do this.”

Can't say I'm surprised. As a promoter, I would do the same. But I'd probably say it differently

YEy but what if JuanaMa were to lose to Caballero or someone else. I think id give a rejuvinated Marquez a shot against Lopez (think Vasquez is past it though).

Dont see anyone beating Gamboa at feather and Lopez is very good but i think hes beatable if matched tough.

    on a positive note:

Arum mentioned a possible matchup with Celestino Caballero –- with either Lopez or Gamboa -- in May or June. Arum also said he would like to add Chris John to the mix.

from the view of a fight fan, it surely sucks. but from a view of a promoter, this could be a nice move. but there are certain risks unless they would just feed both with opponents that are not too risky. well luevano is somewhat a good test especially with juanma's first fight at 126. what's next, the winner of concepcion-santiago for either guy or other top 126 guys?

I think John is too featherfisted to trouble Lopez, while he could really trouble Gambia with his poise and technique. I think Caballero is easy to hit but with his granite chin and power he could pose JuanMa with some problems.

Arum is going to keep Lopez fighting over-matched opponents, he will probably keep him on his PPV's since HBO isn't going to want to keep buying meaningless fights. Gamboa is the goods, he keeps getting better with experience and if he does get that shot against Lopez you better believe he's going to smash him to bits and pieces.

Luevano is a good boxer but John is better and faster i agree that Lopez might not respect Johns power but John is slick too and he would be landing on him more than Luevano did and he has better defense. But id still make it 50-50

And if the judges are fair i can see Caballero possibly winning.

I was thinking about this point the other day too, makes sense actually, there is no way these two fighters fight each other this early in their career. Why the hell would a promoter stick two prospects like these against each other whil they're still relatively obscure to the public.

It would be like the RJJ vs Hopkins, which meant nothing at the time or now because the fighters were still pretty unknown to the public then.

There's a load of great match-ups to make in the featherweights right now and then these two will meet when they both hold 30 odd wins to their name.

Last time I checked Juanma is a 2 division title holder and Gamboa is the current WBA champion, I have no doubt that Gamboa would take the fight in a second. I can't say the same about Juanma since he already ducked Caballero even after he was called a "Maciron" and Celestino said he would ***** slap him if he ever saw him.
