if they dont fight now it will never happen....anyone who thinks "building it up" makes more sense is an idiot....these guys will never be anymore known to john public then they are now....boxing fans know who they are and thats all that matters. the way boxers jump divisions, get upset, fight with their promoters, inactivity...these damn thing could never happen. let them fight each other and if its a war, then theres your "build up" for a rematch

This. Anybody who thinks Bob is an idiot for what he said is well... an idiot. We'll all enjoy this more further down the line. If one of them gets beat in the meantime then it wasn't meant to be. Simple.

I understand Bob's looking out for the bottom line, but, when you're asking people to drop their hard earned cash on your product, you don't tell them to "go **** themselves."

Arum knows that JuanMa would get his ass knocked out by Gamboa. Because JuanMa is the bigger draw, he'll continue to protect him as long as he can. Expect JuanMa to get a steady dose of handpicked opponents for a little while.

They are not prospects. They are both world champs. JuanMa is damn near 27 and Gamboa is 28.

From a promoter's standpoint, they are prospects in the sense that they have no yet reached the peak of their potential marketability.

Two world class undefeated fighters, a 27 year old and a 28 year old, going up against each other while their popularity is still very far from its peak, that would be extremely surprising..

Celestino will ruin the "biggest fw fight ever" if he fights JuanMa...he should do it now while they are both undefeated...Celestino will ruin this fight though

They're featherweights. They're never going to be all that popular more than likely. Before the Lopez fought Mtagwa, he talked about matching Lopez with Gamboa in June. So if anyone really thinks it's about building the fight up, they're mistaken. I can guarentee you that if Gamboa were Mexican this fight would be happening. He knows JuanMa is one of his meal tickets. However, JuanMa is a very flawed figher and might just get blown out the water against Gamboa. JuanMa is cleary being protected IMO.

Never gonna happen. Arum has the promotional rights to half the guys at featherweight. He'll have them clean out the Top Rank guys (Cruz, Santiago, Solis, Concepcion) and shot fighters like Vasquez before he'll have them face anyone else with a pulse.

I'd love it though if Bob has the guts to put either of them in with Cruz, preferably Lopez. Lopez-Cruz would be a WAR. Gamboa-Cruz would be interesting, but I have a feeling mini-Adnrade would mostly just be target practice for Gamboa like Mtagwa was.
