Not to jump the gun here b/c negotiations havent even gotten rollin' yet...but here is the Arum quote from the NY paper...

It has the potential to be the highest-grossing fight of all time, but don't count on any welterweight title clash between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao ending up at Yankee Stadium or any other city venue. "Economically it doesn't make sense," Bob Arum of Top Rank, Pacquiao's promoter, said Tuesday.
    New York Daily News

Ok i can understand the $$$ side of it and all that but i think we can all agree this would be one of the most hyped and anticipated fights in quite some time. Considering this beloved sport of ours needs to maximize all the exposure we can generate this day and age...would it be better if a legendary fight like this is held at a legendary place like Yankee Stadium or some venue like that??

    Thoughts :think:think

Arum has been talking about a fight in Yankee Stadium for some time now. I doubt Pac/PBF would end up there, but it would be fantastic if it did.

Will probably end up in Vegas like every other big fight, unfortunately.

i would love that as well. hell the coliseum in oakland or any real historic open air stadium would be awesome. it will be big in vegas, of course. but i just feel that it would make it that much more special if it were at a venue like that

It's nice to think about how good it'd be at a big arena like Yankee Stadium, but I doubt it goes anywhere other than a Vegas casino (probably MGM Grand).

Money talks, and a casino will pay a massive site fee. Ticket sales are only part of the money they get during a fight.

It appears the Tax Man is about to do to Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. what Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto could not.

Namely, knock both of them out.

Out of New York, that is. And New Jersey, too. …

But last night, Arum dropped the hammer on the fight taking place anywhere east of the Mississippi River.

“No chance,” Arum said. “Nothing would please me more than to have it at Yankee Stadium, but the way the tax structure in New York is set up, it’s impossible.”

But that’s not the worst news. The front-runner to host the bout, proposed for early May or June 2010, is – gulp! – Cowboys Stadium, Jerry Jones’ $1 billion-plus, retractable-roof football palace that makes Yankee Stadium look like a sandlot.
