Isn't it funny people are claiming Kelly is shot and has no self confidence and yet he may be going after the 'consensus' #1 at 168? People on this board really put too much stock in their own opinions. They believe that if enough of them hold the same opinion it becomes reality. More like mass hallucination if you ask me, and I know, no one is asking me.
Well, at least this board is. Pipe was back the other day and was asking me what the xxxx happened to it.
People are over-rating Bute on here. He's the better fighter clearly, but Pavlik might have a stylistic edge and there are still question marks over Bute's ability to handle educated pressure, not somebody who dives in face first like Miranda or somebody who takes punches for fun like Andrade. If Pavlik goes waltzing in expecting to walk into another big payday he will be soundly beaten, but if he prepares properly he will give Bute the toughest test of his career, because he will be the best fighter Bute has ever faced. It will probably take Bute to a higher place but who knows? All the hate on this thread is misplaced and it just shows you how some of the pathetic maggots who call themselves fans hate particular fighters more than they love the sport and want to see a great fight.
And yes, there are double standards in operation when Pavlik gets lambasted for not jumping up for Bute but picking on smaller men at some points but then laughed at for looking at Bute at other points. Forget about your time off, move up to 168, take on a nice easy opponent, then think about the big challenges.
I've heard that if anything, Kelly may have 'over trained' for the last fight, mainly because he was trying to lose weight. I've never heard that he does a Ricky Hatton while he is off. Before this last camp he was off in California working with a nutritionist. Taking the summer off could just mean that he is preparing at the new weight. I've pointed out what Loew said. Training for ANY fight is just as hard as ANY other. So why train for a can? He has been boxing since he was 9. He couldn't train during his last summer layoff because of the hand and did come in with a little rust, but he isn't going to be that much the worse for taking a few extra months off. I think he will do better than most think IF this fight comes off in the fall. He did out box Martinez in rounds 5, 6, 7 and 8 before the cut. I'll have to rewatch some of Bute's fights but I don't remember him being as mobile as Martinez.
Itry, listen to me, Pavlik don't have a chance in hell with Bute. Bute is faster with much better skills. I told you that Martinez will beat Pavlik. <<So listen to me again when i say that Bute will beat Pavlik. Trust me.
