Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is using fighting words to quell talk of a Manny Pacquiao - Floyd Mayweather Jr. megafight matchup later this year.

"(Expletive) Mayweather. Pacquiao's the big attraction. He has to come to us if he wants it," Arum told a group of reporters, according to BoxingInsider.com. "If he doesn't come to us, there's dozens of other guys we can fight."
Pacquiao (48-3-2) first must dispense of slugger Ricky Hatton (43-1) on May 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

If that happens, there'll be pressure to put together a pay-per-view blockbuster featuring the current No. 1 pound-for-pound king in the sport, Pacquiao, with the former pound-for-pound champ, Mayweather Jr., who is rumored to be training for a return to the ring.

The undefeated Mayweather Jr. (39-0) has been retired since June 2007, but increased his public profile with an AT&T laptop connect card television commercial this month.
The relationship between Arum and Mayweather is another potential stumbling block.
Mayweather has stated numerous times he'd never do business with Arum again. To which Arum replied in the BoxingInsider.com report: "But he could go (expletive) himself. Tell him that."

If a Pacquiao - Mayweather Jr. bout could be negotiated, it appears Arum plans to dictate the terms of the matchup.
"I haven't talked to Manny about it because we're concentrating on Hatton, because Hatton is a tough fight," Arum told reporters this week. "The question with a Mayweather fight is at what weight? That's the big question. At 140, I don't think there's any problem making that fight.

"If Floyd wants to come in at a higher weight, I don't know. A catch-weight is a possibility also," he added. "But none of that has been discussed and I won't let anyone discuss it. Until after this fight."

Basicly the story is, Pacquiao/Mayweather is not happening, but if it does it will be at 140 and under Arum's terms.

What's the famous Arum quote? "Yesterday I was lying, today I'm telling the truth."

Let's just wait and see what he has to say tomorrow...
