    I don't really see why it can't be both. The poor state of the African American fanbase can be seen as a direct consequence of promoters' decisions to no longer court that particular demographic as much as in the past. African-Americans no longer giving a **** about boxing is not some mere characteristic of the boxing landscape that emerged for no apparent reason whatsoever but may be seen as an effect of the top promotional companies becoming more Latino-oriented (and I would suggest far less interested in direct local promotion than in merely securing TV dates the majority of the time).
