Bob Arum: Teddy Atlas is Lying, I have a 3 Yr Contract Left on Manny Pacquiao

so who do we believe the guy who has been wrong many times or the liar?

 

Pac has always let others handle his career for him. He came from Muhammad who he was not happy with, to Top Rank who took his career to a level he could never have imagined. Maybe he just wanted to stay on a good thing while he's got it.

He's a busy guy with many things to occupy himself with outside of boxing, lives in the Phillipines, easy to understand how he would prefer to leave the handling of his career to others in a better position to do so, with the big fights being in the US.

He would always need a US promoter and he obviously trusts Arum to do the best for him there. People want him to sign with Golden Boy, they forget that's the company he sued for trying to ruin his career and reputation. Hard to expect him not to hold a grudge against Oscar and Schaefer, or for him to trust them. DiBella and Shaw are second tier, and you can rule him out ever signing with Mayweather Promotions lol

 

Arum doesnt dserve credit. Credit should go mostly to pac for beating morales and barerra. Then beating hoya to become a star.

Do you have a source for that, or are you just assuming because he re-signed with Top Rank and his picture no longer shows on GBP's website that GBP is no longer entitled to a percentage from his fights? Another ******* was saying that GBP agreed to waive their rights to any future percentages in exchange for Pacquiao dropping his defamation suit against them, but I haven't seen any evidence to support either of your claims. Other than Pacquiao dropping his lawsuit it seems everything that was worked out through arbitration after GBP tried to sue Top Rank for shady accounting practices has been kept strictly confidential.

I'm just telling why I think he stays with them. But let's not pretend Top Rank didn't play a part in him becoming such a huge megastar because everybody hates Arum.

If fighters didn't need promoters/managers, there wouldn't be any. If they didn't matter, any fighter could become a star just like that. Who do you think gets Pacquiao all the exposure he gets through promotions for his fights like he ones in the NBA conference finals, all the talk shows and meeting the President and stuff like that in the US?

Mosley beat De La Hoya. Mosley was young, American, he was exciting and undefeated. Did he become a PPV star? No, because he had a **** promoter/management team (Cushner/his dad) who were not willing or not capable of exerting great effort and spending to get his name and story out there to as many people as possible. Same thing with Roy Jones, who unfortunately is still fighting for money.

Even Mayweather uses the best promoter he can get for his fights.

Since signing with Top Rank Pacquiao has become the biggest non-heavyweight attraction in history with De La Hoya and Mayweather. That was no coincidence. They got him the fights that maximised his popularity and earning potential. And they got him the money he wanted. If you remember Pac was willing to walk away from the DLH, Hatton and Cotto fights unless he got an extra couple of million and percentage split he wanted and they squeezed it out for him. And he pretty much got the money he asked for in the fights after.

roy fought in the 1990s...the PPV stars were the HEAVYWEIGHTS, Tyson, Holyfield, Foreman, even morrison and mercer were featured on several ppvs as headliners or showcased guys.... guys like roy that was with HBO for over a decade and then some made a **** load of money with those deals...that was his promoter so to speak...all the guys you mentioned are ppv stars by default...heavyweights have always been the guys people pay to see, minus sugar ray leonard...

 

They put it in there and don't say anything about it hoping the guy just signs without reading the entire contract. They tried that **** with Gamboa. He caught it and asked them to remove it. They refused, so he refused to sign. :deal

and you dont think pacs people or anyone signing a contract that is in the millions of dollars knows this ? obviously gamboa had an attorney reading his....and its not always they "try and sneak it in" . its standard procedure in most all contracts for clauses , with clauses, times 10 clauses... a very simple deal could be 30 pages in legal mumbo jumbo.

 

Michael Koncz is his "advisor" for such things who also happens to be on Top Rank payroll....

 

No source, I just remember hearing about Pacquiao extending his contract a couple of years back, not sure if it was Arum who said it, might've been from his mouth.

It may have been after the Cotto fight (Cotto also extended his contract two years signing to fight Pacquiao). That was Pacquiao's 7th fight after signing a 7 fight deal with GBP/aswell as the deal with Top Rank, and it was the biggest money fight Arum could've used to lure both guys into re-signing. I'm just guessing on that one, may have been later, maybe it was the Margarito bout which Pac always wanted and the first one he was gauranteed over 20 million.

And it's common sense that Golden Boy would no longer be entitled to a cut from Pacquiao's fights once the disputed contract he signed in 2006 with them ended, which was a 7 fight deal, and would've come into in effect after the ruling. The Clottey fight was the likely last one they took money from, that's the last fight included in their suit of the accounting of Pac's fights.

 

Because Koncz, Manny's lawyer, has links to Top Rank so no conflict of interests there then...
