Bob Arum: "The fight that should be made is Mayweather and Shane Mosley".

"Arum does have a backup plan for the man that wins on November 14th, "I think Pacquiao and Cotto should give Mosley some serious consideration.".....

Sounds to me like Arum is already sending the message that he's willing to make a fight between the Pac/Cotto winner and Shane Mosley and kick Mayweather to the curb. This is interesting because if Floyd does not fight the Pac/Cotto winner and the winner of that fight gets Shane then where does that leave Mayweather?:think

There's always gonna be people saying stuff like that, for EVERY fighter. That's not a reason not to make the fight. Right now, it's one of the best fights available, shot, past it, prime or not, there's nothing that can be done about it. It's not about winning or losing, but about taking the fight with the best available, regardless or whether you think it'll be an easy fight or not, that doesn't matter, why fight even lesser fighters? If the best are not good enough TOO BAD. Can't ask him to fight anyone else.

Question is if Cotto and Pac destroy each otherand PBF fights the winner. Would you ever admit that they were lesser fighters than before? Like how DLH was drained at 147 vs Pac?

 

I really dont think you understand how much money Arum could make from a Pacquiao/Mayweather or even Cotto/Mayweather fight.

Arum stands to make nothing on mosley. Do you really think he cares about having a featherweight lose to a welterweight?

You're talking about a guy who last year put Pavlik in there with an animal in Hopkins just because it was the best money fight available.

Mosley is perhaps the best challenge for Floyd at this point.

 

Floyd groupies! God..........Joytoy was already a WW since 05. Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Pwill, since that time had already fought one or the other. Now Pac, who a year ago was at 135, is now fighting a ligitimate WW. Gotta wonder why for all those long years Joytoy hasn't fought ONE top WW since Judah.

 

Because he can fightb Pac for much much more money, that's why. IF PAc beats Cotto, a man with a win over Mosley, the matchup between Pac and floyd becomes very credible.

 

As long as Mayweather remains undefeated, there is absolutely no way that Arum is going to get his required 50/50 for a fight between Mayweather and Pac.....

.....the PPV number of common opponents all indicate that Mayweather outsells Pacquiao by a wide margin.

......Pac should consider himself lucky if 40% is offered to him.....which means a fight between the two is likely not to be made.

Mayweather may have already erred in not signing to fight Shane Mosely.....as imo, Andre Berto has a strong possibility to pull the upset if he manuevers around Mosley and just pulls in and out with bursts of speed.

If an aging Mosley gets upset, where does that leave Mayweather to fight.....Margarito???

Margarito is the last fighter that Mayweather wants to fight.....you can keep hitting him and he'll keep coming.
Mayweather has no where near the strenghth of punching power to keep Margarito honest.

Mayweather could certainly outbox Margarito......but with Margarito, you need to keep your hands moving and punch at him with authority, which is what Mosley did.......and I'm not quite sure Mayweather's hands will hold up under the pressure that Margarito will pose.

The Margarito matchup is the one I want to see Mayweather take.......but he'll never fight Margarito at Welterweight.

 

Sounds like Arum doesn't want his boy Pacquiao to fight Mayweather...

 

Theres a reason Mayweather sat back for 2 years. He let all the WW's beat each other up.

Why does Arum care about fighters' that do not fight for him?

What is his motive behind his comments?

He already said a 50/50 fight was "nonsense" for a purse share between Floyd and Pacquiao. He is bitter with Mayweather, because he got outsmarted and missed out on a lot of money.

 

Some people just done get it...When is the last time you heard the promoter of a fighter saying the guy who would be the biggest money fight for his two biggest fighters should go fight someone that actaully has a better shot of beatting him then his fighters does??? The last time I remember a sitaution like this was tito Oscar II vs Oscar Shane I..You didnt hear Don King saying that Oscar should go fight Shane, no he said that Oscar needs to fight tito.

Team Pac dont want this fight bottom line. You can bent it any way you want, but they are the ones that keep making comments like this.

And dont think for one second that Arum would take money over pride, this is the same guy that WALKED away from the biggest PPV fight in history, when he said he wanted nothing to do with that fight, saying that Oscar and floyd were his two least favorite people in boxing.

Roach has said from day one that the fight would be next to impossible to make, why would he say that?? :huh
