    Old? Lol.

He was just two years older than Joe Joyce.

That statement might anger a large amount of posters.

In fact it is very strange that Arum is so out of balance with this statement. Perhaps he speaks more of a businessman who promotes and exalts a little excessively a very good fighter (however not still elite) close to a reunification that could mean a mountain of money for the promoter more than the fighter.

Joe Joyce left the amatuer system about 2 days ago

Holmes was sparring the best of an era of hardcore MOFO's from birth

    Don't compare

Fury could barely, by the skin of his teeth get by Wallin who gave him a vicious cut.

Wilder who weighs 90 kilos floored him in devastating fashion several times, and Wilder misses 99% of his shots due to being the most technically limited champion in modern history.

I don’t want to even think of what Mike Tyson with his prowess and muscular lean 218 pound frame at 5 ‘11 would do to the Gypsy Queen. But it would need a few metal bolts and an MRI.

Prime Tyson (20-21 years old) would beat Fury. It would be competitive but Tyson's head movement, bodywork, closing the range combined with his footwork would be too much pressure. Fury struggles with smaller fighters that load up on pressure and can string together combos nicely. Fury likes to move but he isn't technically a mover really (when compared to SRL): he'd have to deal with Mike's constant pressure. On another note, Tyson was mentally quite vicious and he would, IMO, intimidate Fury. I also don't think Fury Jas enough pop in his shots to keep Mike off balance while moving forward. Though, Fury could win if he in-fighted, leant on Mike, frustrated & stifled his work - Mike actually wasn't that good on the inside tbf, he liked a short medium range to get his punches off and his jab wasn't something of note really. So, in short, Fury could win, but I'd say it's a 60-40 affair, just depends on Fury's strategy more than anything, just can't see it, stylistically speaking.

No, those punches would SINK IN and seriously hurt his internal organs, make him drop his hands, and get ko'd. If a cruiserweight like Cunningham could put Fury down, then so could Mike.

Plus, as fragile a mentality as Mike has, Fury is worse. He's a bully, always has been due to his size. All Mike has to do is look at Fury and he craps his pants. Bullies get bullied.

Mike Tyson is a legend. Your favourite fighter’s, favourite fighter!

To Arum: “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face” - Mike Tyson

To BoxingForum24 : “Social Media made ya’ll way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it” - Mike Tyson

Tyson Fury: “I want to set up a bout with Savannah Marshall in a cross gender fight, I’m happy to get down to 17 stone for it”

Holmes at 38 yo was "younger" than Joyce at 36. Holmes fought until 2002 with very good results. In the 90s Foreman won the title again at 45, almost 46. Today no HW fighter could be able to do It neither with the actual PEDs. Besides average life is more or less the same in the 80s as in this era (i dont consider Covid of course).

    In a nutshell:
Prime Tyson beats Fury at least 7/10 imo.

What a joke. Saying X would knock out or beat Mike Tyson has to be the most generic hype attempt ever.

    Speaking of Haye Valuev.

The height difference between those two, which looked like a circus fight, would be the same if not more with Mike vs Fury.

Now add that Fury is magnitudes, magnitudes of levels above Valuev, and a fight in which Tyson has no stylistic advantage.... and comparing it to Haye/Valuev becomes rather nonsensical, imo.

In a nutshell Tyson beats Fury 7 out of 10 times based on.... analysis against opponents significantly smaller, older, and who fight nothing like Fury.

Tyson Fury can take a crack on the chin for sure, as evident when he got up from Wilder. But.....who has Wilder cracked who's got an ATG chin? 1988 Mike Tyson KO'd Larry Holmes, who had proved his chin against Shavers twice, and sorry but Deontay does not hit in the realm Shavers put guys in. I'd go with the young Mike Tyson, he was just on another level than the other heavyweights of his time and was a destroyer in the ring. Tyson after Douglas is all another fighter and Fury against him would have much more chances, no doubt.

So much flawed logic used against Fury.

    If Wallin could

    If Cunningham could...

    ...

If Wallin could give Fury a hard fight, Fury stands no chance against Wladimir.

If Cunningham could put Fury down, there is literally 0% chance Fury can fight Wladimir and Wilder a combined 4 times and not get stopped at least once.

    ...

While obviously useful, you can't always hand pick a fighters worst moments and extrapolate then successfully enough to make predictions with, when those moments are either clearly exceptions and/or get compensated and corrected by other various factors.

Talking about the Cunningham fight, a fight when a 20 fight Fury was practically still a prospect, and happened 7 years ago, is ridiculous.

Today's Fury has evolved, has worlds more training and experience, and would ragdoll that Cunningham.

    It's irrelevant.

I think Fury also struggles with the size. Tyson was far from a stationery target and had a sound defence. He used his short stature to his advantage. He would also be firing from angles that Fury isn't used to and with much more speed and bad intentions

Also even if he found the head hard to catch, what about the body? Plenty of fat there for mike to beat on and bring the head down

I perhaps would favour Fury more, just down to his sheer size and and he moves well for a big man. But let's not pretend he is over 7 feet and has never been dropped before

I'm a huge Fury fan, but I'm realistic and also a huge tyson fan

Isn't Bob famous for hyping his fighter (like all promoters)?

Didn't he once proclaim Floyd as greater than Ali and Ray Leonard, while he promoted him?

Did he not proclaim Manny as the GOAT while he promoted him?

I know things are sour now, but did he also elevate Bud to elite levels of greatness in recent times?

    Tyson is great
    Fury is great

Imo Tyson was greater. The fighters may have been smaller, but they were better than the guys now and certainly more skilled
