Boy Arum’s famous saying under cross examination in court “yesterday I was lying today I am telling the truth”. Says it all. Only the deluded believe Bob Arum.
Mike Tyson was a highly skilled fighter and devastating puncher who I have no doubt would put Tyson Fury to sleep. This is not Beyoncé with poor fundamentals and Agricultural skills level.
Yep we all know what Mike was capable of And we have all seen him out boxed and become frustrated Like i say its not inconceivable
The thing about these silly hypotheticals is that people can say anything they like and there is no consequence. Therefore you cannot take anything they say seriously. But if it somehow could be tested and a gun was put to your head, with death being the consequence for choosing wrongly, everyone on this forum would be picking the 6'8, 270 lbs Irish Traveller modern world champion over the 5'10, 215 lbs American champion from 30+ years ago.
You tend to be very rational, so I hope you will see this logic. It does not make sense to believe, whether using reason or pure cynicism, that everyone of the large # of folks who pick the namesake original edition of Tyson are liars. Even if you are completely correct in who wins-& the size differential *combined* with World Class skills makes it very hard for Iron Mike, especially if as is likely a referee permits a Holyfield-level of clinching... Even if you are correct that the much larger more "modern" HW is certainly going to win (overstated, but they usually will)... Believing absent any evidence the extraordinary idea that nobody truly is sincere & truthful in their conviction is wholly unjustified. Not only do "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence-& you have none, only conjecture... The evidence of numerous people betting, so very heavily, on any side of any fight belies that faith-based cynical conclusion.
"Everyone" is virtually always an exaggeration. I accept that some percentage of people are truly delusional but I strongly suspect that the percentage is far lower than the number of people who make such fantastical claims on forums would suggest. If evidence is impossible to attain, you have to use logic or intuition and an overreliance on empiricism can be as blinding as revealing. Humans lie for many reasons, especially if there is zero cost or even gain for doing so. In this case, they derive emotional gratification from making these claims, whether honestly deluded or not. Gambling one's money, even non-trivial amounts, often satisfies a similar emotional need; it's not comparable to making a life or death choice. That would tend to sober people up considerably.
Tyson Fury did say that Iron Mike could knock him out in less than 30 seconds. Maybe he was just talking out of respect, but I believe that.
If a Past his Prime Cruiserweight can Knockdown Tyson Fury. Then a Prime Tyson would send Fury on his back in 3 rounds.
The title should read: Tyson Fury would avoid Mike Tyson. Just like Fury has avoided most of the top heavyweights for the past few years. Just like he is avoiding Whyte right now. Just like he has not fought 45 of the current top 50 at heavyweight.
