I also heard him mention Berto, Paul Williams, Martinez, or Bradley/Alexander

That's a good way of not losing.

Refusing to fight people on the basis that "you'd probably beat them anyway".

No way Roach would put Pacquiao in with Mosely. Even now. Shane has a lot of joy with guys who "come to fight".

As for Marquez, I'd have thought Pacquiao would have rematched Marquez by now if he thought he'd win easily.

Why turn down record money for Marquez, and waste your time making peanuts for guys like Diaz and Clottey if it's easy?

Thats why I asked. thought it was running out now. Makes me think if Pac hasn't agreed a new contract Arum would want Tony to win. With the mayweather one am unsure as Arum would have made money too. But maybe he makes more this way.

Also could it be that Pac wants to fight Floyd after for this reason too, so he keeps most of his money and doesn't have to pay GBP and Top Rank. Therefore didnt mind holding off the fight either

I can care less about all those fights. I want to see Manny fight someone remotely close to his neighborhood in the handspeed department. I don't really care to see anything else from him because we all know the outcome. If not floyd then Berto or nothing. I want to see if he fights someone as fast as him like he has been fighting the average to slow handspeed guys he's been fighting.

All three of them are unacceptable opponents.
    • Mosley is shot.
    • Cotto would be beaten up worse than before.
    • Marquez no longer has it in him to compete with a beast like Manny.
But if Mayweather continues to play his silly games, who else is there for him? I’d like to see him take out the younger guys - Bradley and Berto - and add to his legacy that tiny little bit more. But unfortunately they don't bring the money the others would.

Very interesting look. I don't really know to much about his contract situation and would have to check it out.

    April 2011 - Winner of Martinez/Williams at 158.
    December 2011 - Floyd Mayweather at 147.

Too unrealistic to hope for? I would absolute cream my pants if that all went to plan. If he wins both of those fights, he's definitely top 20 material in my eyes.

I'm not sure if much about it is out there. All I know is that he pays both Top Rank and GBP a percentage as done a deal before the morales fight. There was a court case. Weather he has or will agree a new contract with Arum. I suppose depends on if he wants to fight on and the sort of opponents he wants.

how much input do you think manny/roach have, i really see manny as a 'whatever you say/want bob' with arum making all the decisions and keeping all inhouse.

my issue with martinez/williams winner is one if he loses (very possible) i think it would throw off his mojo-self confidence, mayweather after a pac loss would finally agree to fight him and i think take the win.

I think of all three options Marquez is actually the least equipped to handle Manny, Manny has grown into his new weight well, also improving as a fighter since the Marquez fights, if anything Marquez has declined and now there would be a true size/weight disparity. Like someone else said Mosley is still ****in' dangerous for Pac, Manny will wanna fight and eventually he's gonna eat a Mosley right hand and that's a game changer. I think a second fight with Cotto at the higher weight and with the new trainer would be more competitive than the first fight but Pac still wins this.
