Bob Baker, the big hitting boxer seemed to always drop a decision at the wrong time.
He had two impressive winning streaks .
From 21st of April when he turned pro until the 13th of Nov 1951 he had 25 consecutive wins then he drew with Kid Riviera and dropped a dec to Clarence Henry.

Baker put together another winning streak from the 24th of May 1954 till 3rd Feb 1956 he posted 13 wins.
    Among Baker's vicims were;
    Richardson
    Mederos
    Baksi
    Agramonte x2
    Layne x3
    Davidson
    Wallacex2
    Valdes x2
    Brion
    Slade
    Holman
    Bivins
    Gilliam x3
    Henry
    And a young Chuvalo.

He looks good on film ,imo.
I read he had hand trouble ,I think Suzie spoke about it

He has some good wins on his record, why didnt he step up to the plate? And, why wasn't he given a title chance?
    Was it just his inconsistancy?

Al Weill apparently tried to talk up a Marciano-Baker fight in 1955 according to both Budd Schulberg (sp) in SI and The Ring.

The press reaction demanding Moore helped lead to the Marciano-Moore match.

I think if Baker had beaten Jackson in 1956 he would have gotten a shot at Patterson.
