Bob Fitzsimmons vs 1996 Mike Tyson

Although Fitzsimmons made a quick work of agressive pressure fighters, Tyson would be too strong and too powerful for him. I'd give Bob much better chance against Rocky.

To beat Tyson you have to be strong enough to impose himself on the inside. Fitzsimmons wasn't big enough and that wasn't his game anyway. Tyson had strong chin, I don't think it's reasonable to expect one KO punch from Fitz here.

 

Poor, poor Bobby.

 

For the most part Fitz didn't do one punch KOs anyway, especially at heavyweight. Most of his big KOs were from barrages of punches to the head and body. Even the Corbett one was two punches, and after slowly wearing him down leading up to him.

 

I agree, Fitz was a dangerous finisher though and he definitely had one punch power. I can't see him beating Tyson, but he'd have a big chance against most swarmers and pressure fighters up to 200 lbs.

 

True. His power was extremely good, but I think it was his finishing ability that set him apart from a lot of other punchers, though he certainly had a lot of other good traits too.

I rate Fitz really highly, but ultimately I think Tyson would be too tough, strong and powerfull, even past his prime.

 

Fitz found the pedestrian ,[in comparison to Tyson,]Jeffries too young,too big,and strong for him.Make them nearer the same age Fitz still has to concede size ,weight ,and speed , too much for him.

The freckled one, would not have known what hit him, over in the 1st, Fitz was game, so maybe more than 1 knockdown.

 

Tyson would knock his freckles back to Cornwall.

 

You know those early kos by Tyson, the ones that came before Berbick?
Well imo this would by exactly like those, with Fitz being hit so fast and hard he never stands a chance.

 

I don't think that Tyson's quickness would be too much for Fitz, he fought at MW after all, but his power and constant pressure.
