The fight Fitz gets the most divisive opinion on is this one (this is the best quality I found) This content is protected On one hand he's knocking out the HW champion. On the other he has low hands and relies a lot on his head movement. But honestly, what I see now, on that quality footage, really isn't that bad. You first see him pushing off with his elbow, something boxers still do now. He obviously gets caught with an equilibrium shot and his corner is nearly ready to throw the towel in. You can see his nose is bloody so his defence hasn't exactly been perfect and you can assume he's eaten a few of the jabs he's tried to lean away from. When he gets back up he jabs and grabs to aid his recovery, again something modern boxers do. It then shows him punching with Corbett, he obviously feels he's timing him now. Around the 2 minute mark you actually see him mocking Corbett in a clinch and then land a very hard combination up close. You see now he's stronger, he pushes Corbett out of the clinch and begins dancing around the ring, I'm assuming to show how much fresher he is. He now slips and dodges the punches coming at him with ease. The ko is obviously legendary, as well all know he slips to side and fires off a body shot to get the W. I go through phases with Fitz, but right now I can see him being a successful champion in today's era. As for this fight, I honestly don't know. Foster has a big long jab and as we know, Corbett was actually successful early on behind his jab. But Fitz could take his power and could finish stronger. Would the same game plan work against Foster? I don't know. But I do think he would find a successful game plan and Foster can't take his power. Fitzsimmons ko.
