Fitzsimmons by stoppage. I'd never pick a smaller brawler who was MW at his biggest against Fitzsimmons.

Jackson stopped Norris, I don`t think Fitzsimmons could, Norris was far more skilled than anyone Bob ever beat, McCallum stated that Jackson had faster hands than any other fighter he ever faced.

How can you know that? Fitzsimmons beat some of the best P4P fighters ever. He beat up Jack O'Brien at over 40 years old.

Jackson wasn’t smaller. He was the same height with a longer reach. He also fought in the era of next day weigh-ins. He was bigger than Fitz, if anything.

Fitzsimmons fought around 170 lbs for most of his career. He wasn't smaller at all.

Jackson looked no more than 165lbs in the ring to me, he was a very small middleweight and Fitzsimmons made a career of knocking out bigger opponents, he knocked out someone who was 140 lbs heavier, I don’t think 5 lbs will make a difference and if Fitzsimmons cut down from 170 to 160 he could come in the ring at 170

Jackson The training was far more advanced . Getting out the way avoiding punches and stamina was far better understood at this point
This makes me say Jackson on points

There was a recent video posted of Corbett and Fitzsimmons "fighting." They looked untrained, it could easily have been a fight on the first night of a local Toughman contest between two fighters who weren't going to get close to the finals. Jackson could knock out both of them, one after the other and wouldn't need 3 minutes.

He weighed in at 165 for non title bouts and likely walked around well over 170. Pretty much the same as Fitz, who didn’t really cut weight as far as I’m aware.

And Jackson wasn’t a small Middle at all. McClellan was huge for the weight and they looked similarly sized in the ring.

Jackson would’ve fought there as well had he fought during that era.

Fortunately, boxing isn't about how someone looks, but how good he is at hitting opponent and not being hit.

Hard to say. Julian Jackson fought in a sport that was levels above Fitz's semi-pro era. He clearly looks far better than Fitz on film. But Fitz is bigger and stronger and Jackson couldn't take out McClellan.

    It wasn't a semi-pro era.
