Fitzsimmons hit hard enough to stop a 300 pound fighter and was a murderous puncher. How much would his power avail him against prime Bowe? He did KO Jim Corbett who was bigger.
I would bet on Bowe, but he is probably tailor made for Fitzsimmons in that despite his size advantage he would not fight long and at a distance, so his reach is no big deal and he is unlikely to clinch and lean too much on Fitz. This reminds me a lot of Jeffries v Fitzsimmons. I think Bowe takes a lot of punishment before he stops Fitz.
I have to go with Fitz on this one. He waits for one of Bowe's looping rights, shifts and check hooks Riddick into Bolivia.
He wasn't a very good 300lb fighter Julian Jackson, Stanley Ketchel, Gerald McClellan and others were every bit the murderous punchers....there is only so much power a middleweight can generate and the three I mentioned are about as good as it gets I am sure Fitz is among these guys.......and he stopped Corbett with a solar plexes shot in the 14th not a KO.
I think Fitz could have KOd a lot of elite heavies. But not elite superheavies, of which I believe there were four (Lewis, Bowe, Klits). I think Bowe would lean on him until he had little left.
