Same result as Marciano v Charles 2 imo with maybe Fitz scoring a Kd. Bob manages to bust up Rocky s face, having his nose half off and the ref close to stopping it. Then Marciano blasting through the Fitz s guard and smashing him to the floor.
    Marciano ko 8.

I see I'm still the only person insane enough to vote for Fitzsimmons

There is a basis for picking Fitz ,the 2 Sharkey fights, whether its enough to pick him is the question?

    What about the Jeffries fight?

Jeffries is arguably a bigger, fitter, faster and stronger version of Marciano. Fitz lost both fights but he battered Jeffries around the ring, and he was past prime and arguably not in the best shape. Fitzsimmons has evry chance in this fight, though i am not really sure i would pick him.

As well as Maher fights, although Maher fought differently than Rocky. Fitz was proven against the best punchers of his era.

Oh he certainly has a chance and I wouldnt be surprised it he pulled it off.I'm tentatively picking Rocky but I wouldnt be betting on this fight.
ps Be careful talking about Jeffries being battered around the ring by the near 40 Fitz, you might be accused of being a hater!

Oh yes he could. Go to the KO clip of Corbett, Fitz feinted high, Corbett quickly adjusted his guard, then lands a vicious body shot to the liver / floating rib area.

Fitz was know for traps. He was a cunning boxer. If Marciano didn't see the shots coming ( I agree ) that's a mistake he cant make vs Fitzsimmons.

Just going by the stats and clear film. He was NOT a pretty orthodox fighter. Hence the confusion. But statistically speaking he was one of the best at not being hit. This is not arguable.

Never said Fitz was bad defensively. Although I do look down upon pre 1930s style

Amazing defense? More like adequate. Rocky's best stuff was his energy level, power, and toughness, not defense. As for accuracy, that want his thing either. I counted 17 clean whiff in a round vs Archie Moore. Yes--that is a true stat.

Marciano was certainly more than the sum of his parts, but by quitting at the prefect time ( Age 32 ) he preserved his image. Fitz was winning key fights past 40.

I will watch more of him. I don’t remember him being that particularly good at anything other then ridiculous power for his size.
