Funny enough i just finished watching that film. Rockys boxing ability is underated. Rocky wasnt stupid to just walk in on Louis and get countered . rocky actually boxed more in rounds 3 and 4 countering louis with uppercuts and rights
I trust my eyes. ps If you don't get hit much, you don't get cut and marked up I didn't introduce his name into the thread and several others have mentioned him here.I answered a question from Boilermaker. NOBODY BUT YOU HAS MENTIONED JACK JOHNSON Save your crap for another thread, preferably one you make!
He outboxed Gardner, not really O'Brien though in honestly. He was getting outboxed and just hurt him badly. He was stupidly old and in declining health by then though
This is the morning after the Louis fight Louis was 36 years old and basically one handed by then. This content is protected
I've read that rounda were close before hurting O'Brien, but I might be wrong. Jack was a runner, so Fitz finding and hurting him at that age and that condition just proves what a special figher he was.
Physically speaking he was prime. But stylistically he wasn’t at his best. The commentator for the fight even states that “he hasn’t perfected the crouching style yet that he later would”. Marciano was at his best from Matthews to Charles 2...imo. With a noticeable decline from there.
Fitz was in great pain in the Gardner fight, he had huge blood blisters on the soles of both feet,at the end of the fight his shoes were filled with blood.
Another important thing - Marciano can be hit with jabs fairly easily and Fitz had powerful one. Just after a knockdown Corbett went for kill and Fitz found him with one stiff jab, Jim didn't try to finish him agressively anymore.
Marcianos a way bigger and stronger man its hard to call but I think he'd ware down bob over time and stop him late
P4P he's the best ever until Langford (and it's still close). At HW, he's 3rd best behind Jeffries and Johnson in that era.
