Are you going to join or just cheerlead from the stands? No thoughts of your own on any of the points I made? I thought you gave up on the conversation.
"Cheerlead from the stands" tough guy lol. Honestly mate, it will be much more entertaining to watch the smartest poster on the forum dissect you.
So that's a negative. At this rate, I'd be happy to engage anyone smarter and more informed than yourself.
Super middleweights as 190-pound behemoths: It wasn't Ward when he was 176 for Dawson. Dawson himself was only 185. Not Calzaghe when he was 176 and 179 for Starie and Woodhall. Neither Toney nor Jones. Lacy was 179 and 181 late in his career. I think maybe one side is more prone to exaggeration.
Found one! Vassiliy Jirov: 6'2" Toney 188 194 Letterlough 190 194 Brown 188 192 Williams 188 192 Remember that time Jirov was a super middleweight?
Here Gleison Tiabu has entered 155lbs fights at as high as 186lbs at 8-10% bodyfat at a height of 5ft8. His career average is 181lbs and starts camp at 200+lbs according to his trainers. So what do you think a dedicated SMW can weigh? If you don't think Foster who forcefully bulked to 180lbs cannot make 168lbs when he comes in as low as 170-173lbs in his prime you are either stupid or digging in your heels.
Look at you growing! You made an argument! Prove to me Foster will react to Tibau's regimen the exact same way. Prove to me he wasn't a Hugo Pineda. Prove that Foster trained up, not down to 180. I never said Foster couldn't make 168. Check again! I already provided some weights for notable super middleweights. Where are the 190-pound monsters? You'd be hard-pressed to find a light heavyweight who weighs in at 190 pounds. I only have Dawson at 191 against Glen Johnson.
I'll plead ignorance on the sport, but I'd also guess MMA is less cardio intensive compared to pure boxing.
Lol. I don't a give a **** about 190lbs SMWs. I know Foster could make SMW easy that was my point read the thread title he could go even lower if he WANTED I can't prove it you cannot disprove it but the evidence that fighters can go lower with much more disadvantages is available. It is well documented that Foster DID train up show me where it says he didn't show me go ahead I'll wait. I gave you Tiabu a well documented MASSIVE guy at a very low bodyfat who was 5ft8 who cut 25lbs and started camp at 200lbs regularly so the potential is there.
If you go back to my first post, you'll find that I answered the thread question. But I see that once again you've reverted to throwing questions back at people and waiting for better debaters to bail you out. Tibau trains for a different sport and has more mass to lose.
That's what I thought you are a little cop out. More mass to lose? Water weight you mean? because he isn't losing muscle and fat and putting it all back on, on fight night. He trains for a sport that for all intents and purposes is as hard if not harder on the lungs have you ever grappled or done kickboxing? Tiabu isn't the only guy cutting 25lbs you can find them in boxing. Bow down soy boy
The whole concept of how fighters approach making weight has changed dramatically. From his first day in the gym, if Bob Foster started boxing in 2010, he would be constantly tested to see how low he could get- and that is fighting in the amateurs with same day weigh ins. At a young age he would probably hit 140 and they would test it out in sparring, maybe in tournaments because losses don't count and you are trying to build something. To hit 147 for about 1 minute and then have 36 hours to regroup? Not out of the question. And, keep in mind, Hearns did well at cruiser with much bigger guys than Doug Jones, who stopped Foster.
Except that the weigh-in procedure for amateur and professional are totally different. Even if you assert that Golovkin and Foster are roughly the same size, Golovkin was only briefly a welterweight as an amateur and never one as a professional.
