You gotta remember, this ain't 175lbs Foster, he is coming down to their territory, it sound all well and good saying, 'Ray Leonard at 135lbs would destroy everyone today' But he would be coming down to their territory
Leona Leonard would be able to make at least 140lbs today with the weigh in rules what they have now. He could possibly make 135lbs
It's not about body composition, Eubank was ripped at 190lbs, that didn't mean he couldn't make 168lbs, people cut water before weight ins, not actual body weight
But Eubank`s body was thick at 1990, Ray`s waist was really thin at 147 and he was only half an inch shorter than Eubank too.
He was 26 when he started fighting at heavyweight. At the ages where both their weights could be compared, he and Foster were the same size.
I will say, with regards to the above, that Beterbiev is big for a light heavyweight. Perhaps he is not large enough for there to be 10 pounds of difference- it depends on whether he comes into the ring at well over a 190 pounds- but I do think that the coming generations will move past that threshold eventually, based on the current crop fighting at light heavyweight.
There is a 25 lbs jump from LHW to CW. It is either fight CWs who weigh 210+ in the ring or cut down to 175 lbs. How does that address my argument? Amateur weight class and professionally weight class for the same boxer can be different.
