I have not watched Foster extensively by any means but feel safe picking him against Ward considering his feats at LHW (14 defences!!) and because S.O.G. has fought a champion at 175 only once and, despite leaving with the belts, lost the fight in my (& most peoples) opinion. Foster KO
Bob Foster power at 175 was frightening. Ward though is a survivor. This fight would be like Spinks vs Braxton. Ward would be knocked down early and hurt. However this time no comeback. Ward will be cautious and this would allow Bob to outbox Andre and win on points.
Foster out points him. Spears him with the jab through out. Ward tries and is determined but foster is to good.
Personally I take Foster by knock out. Theirs nothing special about Ward in my opinion other the like Triple G and Mayweather jr. Fighting in a very weak era.
Great match up. Foster has the length and the power, Ward the defense / countering physical strength / dirty tactics, and the more skills overall. I'm not sure, but I'd lean a bit toward Foster.
Is this post a parody of the oft told 'Andre Ward hasn't lost a fight since he was X years old' fable or a serious opinion?
If Foster landed that right hand instead of Kovalev, I don't see Ward getting up. However I have not watched enough of prime Foster to make a call on how he deals with Wards inside game and tactics. If he can limit the exchanges up close and clamp down on Ward he could very well take a close decision. But the specter of his KO power is always going to be there. Ward could absolutely not afford to shut down his right hand after taking a big counter like he did vs Kov.
Was it 12 years old? A fable implies fiction. Ward actually hasn't lost since he was a preteen. That isn't an opinion.
