He's often called one of the best.

Don't play games. The "etc." is Doug Jones, Mauro Mina and Bob Hazelton.

"NoNeck, post: 20263571, member: 89129"]He's often called one of the best.

There's a big difference between being called " one of the best" and being called "Thee best." Being labeled as ONE of the best is generally what happens when most people rate you in their top 10-20 which a lot of people do.

"Don't play games. The "etc." is Doug Jones, Mauro Mina "

Foster was a 9 fight light heavyweight prospect when he fought the 23 fight heavyweight Doug Jones who had given some heavy's a fair amount of trouble. Foster had 12 fights when he took on the 45-2 contender Mauro Mina.. If I wanted to " play games" I'd mention that Adonis Stevenson was stopped by the 16-15-2 Darnell Boone and guess what ?!? He didn't even have to move up in weight to do it !!! Ain't that somethin' ?

    "and Bob Hazelton."

Ah yes... Bob "Kid" Hazelton.. A 6'7", 220 lbs heavyweight who beat Bob, only this time when Foster was 40 years old, on the comeback trail and in the last fight of rather long career..

most guys you match Foster with at the lower weights not heavyweight is not good for the opponent. Although, a higher quality guy like Spinks would be interesting. What about Qawi vs. Foster?

I still watch that fight from time to time. The thing that stands out, other than the obvious bucket loads of courage, is the absolute quality of the fight. Barely a punch wasted. I would fear for Carl against Foster.

It's not 10-20. A lot of people have him at 1-3.

Adonis avenged the loss to Boone. Foster avenged nothing. If you're unfamiliar with Boone, he almost stopped Kovalev and dropped Ward.

    1. I don’t know anyone who rates him #1 and I’m guessing only few have him top 3. I have him ranging in the mid to lower part of the top 10 which I think is at least reasonable.

    2. Yes Darnell Boone was tough and cagey but also a journeyman. Foster didn’t loose to journeyman at light heavyweight. In fact he rarely lost at light heavyweight at all. Did Adonis ever fight at heavy let alone taking on some of the best heavys of all time? Did even face all of his mandatories at light heavy ? Do you think Adonis Stevenson should rate in any top 10 ?

You’re creating a tangent. Nobody ranks Stevenson above Foster. Stevenson didn’t have a habit of losing to limited fighters. Foster did have a habit of performing like a journeyman when fighting anyone over 175, even if we’re talking about 180s.

Qawi couldn't get to Spinks, he won't get to Foster either
