Bob darned near killed smaller brother Mike in a title defense. Bob moved up to win a few and lose a few against heavies. How would Bob Foster done against Jerry Quarry who was actually a small heavyweight?

The best he could hope for was stopping Quarry on a cut. But otherwise Quarry had the chin to take his shots and the power to put him out.

Agreed. Foster would strike out against yet another heavyweight.

Quarry would have salivated in getting to Foster for revenge of what he did to brother Mike. I think he would have been motivated to either toy with and dispose of Bob, or he would have coldcocked him...he would have been inspired. It would probably have been the second scenario, as Foster was too dangerous to toy with..he could have cut Jerry..I think Quarry would have hit Foster with something like Frazier hit Foster with.

Quarry would have to move straight in on Foster like he did against Shavers.

Quarry would get hit a few times, but shake them off ....then onload with body shots and hooks to the head.

Don't box with Foster.....just knock him out quick.

Foster always had trouble when he fought heavyweights. Quarry would have been too durable, too strong, and too hard hitting for Foster. I see Quarry winning by knockout.

I thought Foster got along with the Quarrys. I remember reading that prior to the 1972 Mike Quarry fight, Foster advised the Quarrys to postpone the bout for another year, so Mike could get more seasoning. It seemed like Foster respected Mike, and was thinking about his development.

    That's interesting...maybe there wasn't any bad blood.

    I vaquely remember that too.

Foster said "post-fight"...."I was afraid I had killed the kid."

He also has said in several interviews over the years that Mike Quarry was the best fighter (boxer?) he ever fought.

Foster would probably also agree that Quarry's handlers ruined him by rushing him into a title fight a little too soon.

Jerry would lay out Bob in two rounds quick.Mike was one thing, Jerry would be a different animal.

Bob would have won a few rounds early on,but Quarry's counterpunching and extra weight would wear him down, eventually.

Quarry by tko within eight rounds.
