I say Foster starches Calzaghe in under 3 rounds. If Foster hits JC in the first round like BHop and Roy Jones did, it's over in 1. And I like JC, I'm just saying Foster would be too big at 175 and would take advantage of JC's habit of dropping his hands and leaving his head open for big right hands.

Foster would knock anyone out if he caught them. One of, if not the best ever LHW. Bob Foster takes this in an easy fight.

One never can tell how hypotheticals would have gone.

I would have to pick Foster in this one.

what exactly is the point of this thread. Bob Foster is an ATG 175 pounder. Joe has had 2 fights at 175. This thread is nearly as ******ed as the Calzaghe vs Spinks thread.

JC is currently fighting at 175, is the Ring magazine 175 pound champ, and may fight Dawson to unify the belts that matter. It's a perfectly sensible thread.

Foster is overrated as an ATG at 175 IMHO, but he'd catch Calzaghe at some point and it'd be all over despite JCs decent chin at 168.

I'd take Bob over pretty much all 175lbers save Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore and Michael Spinks.

And then it'd be a 50/50 with those three.

Calzaghe, as far as 175 is concerned, isn't even top 20.

............On paper, at least, this is a mismatch. Foster wins easily.

Calzaghe would've be a light-heavyweight under the old weigh-in rules for most of his career.

Foster is a nightmare H2H for nearly anyone who isn't bigger than him. Calzaghe at his best could last to the middle rounds, but he isn't lasting the distance.

As much as I've berated Calzaghe on this site today, I gotta say that the fact that we're questioning how he would fare against BOB FOSTER speaks volumes about his current status.

    Good point.

He is a very good fighter with quite impressive physical gifts. Its not totally unreasonable to make a hypothetical matchup like this.

Foster destroys him but really Foster just about destroys anyone at that weight.
