I can't imagine this one going the distance. I want to say Foster because he bit better opposition at LH. Although Moorer had more success at Heavy. However I will go with Bob Foster. 12 rounds at 175, who's your pick?
Can anyone name a Light Heavyweight of the last 50 years who had the same punching power as Moorer when stepping up to Heavyweight??
Are you implying that Moorer was a puncher at heavyweight? If you are, I'd suggest that MM left ALL his power at lightheavy...he certainly wasn't a punching force at heavyweight.
Foster hit harder than Moorer at 175...moved up to heavyweight and it was as though he had no punch to begin with....same with Moorer.
Moorer couldn't even force a kd of a famously weakened Evander Holyfield in his title winning bout....he must have hit George Foreman with everything but the kitchen sink and never came remotely close to even staggering George...he wasn't that good a puncher at all at heavyweight. Besides Bert Cooper and Frans Botha....(an attrition beatdown), where did he impress with his power at heavyweight? He was one of the least effective punchers of the champions/title holders at heavyweight.
So basically you're saying he couldn't hurt two granite chinned all time greats?? He got Alex Stewart out of there, a feat George Foreman couldn't do. Who said he was a monster puncher at heavyweight? Name me another light heavyweight of recent times who could punch like him at heavyweight?
I think he had very good power but he fought began fighting more cautious because he had his own chin issues, certainly after the Cooper fight as he moved towards a shot at the big title.
Don't just say ''besides him and him'' as though they never really happened. Moorer could bang at heavyweight. Cooper and Alex Stewart were legitimate KO's. Moorer's chin never really stood up too well, but his punching power was 100% real. At 175 and heavy.
