Or on the other hand possibly protecting Spinks from losing his title. That was a very close fight. Hank is probably the only question mark there.Anderson fought to survive, and Fourie and Ahumada were really good, very tough fighters taking on a Foster in sharp decline.I wouldn't hold those bouts against him, it's no sure thing Spinks or Foster at their best would stop those two.
Spinks wins this one, I don't know if there is a LH ever that I would pick over a peak Spinks, that guy was damn good!! Spinks I see out boxing Foster for around 8-10 rounds and then the 2 start 2 exchange more and more over the next few rounds and at some point during there very heated exchanges "THE JINX" puts Bobs lights out!! Spinks KO12!!
Now you're opening a new can of worms for me (in Spink's favor). In my estimation, Qawi lasted the distance because he made that fateful decision with himself that he wasn't willing to attempt to walk through Spink's power and risk going out on his shield to turn it into the kind of fight he could win. It thus turned into a boxing match between a man 6'2, 6'3ish and a man 5'7ish. In my opinion, that's one of the more impressive displays of Spinks power. He showed us the limits of Qawi's fierceness and brutality. On the other hand, EMM while poorly prepared, showed great heart making the distance after getting completely laid out in the 12th by Spinks.
It was actually several left hooks which bobbled Wassaja's head nearly off the hinges. And the hook Michael used to nearly decapitate Marvin Johnson certainly doesn't take any back seat to the one Bob nearly killed Mike Quarry with. Vonzell was a classic Jinx ambush though. (Do not EVER back out of a referee's break without protecting yourself!) Anybody who thinks Michael had a second rate jab should watch him turn Ranquello into a bloody mess with it. Just now, I reviewed how his right flattened Sears, who just had no chance to recover from Michael's follow-up attack. (With Larry Hazzard as the referee, it was necessary to regain one's bearings quickly, or there would be a prompt halt.)
I think it might have been Farhood who wrote that when scoring it from ringside he had Michael the winner, but when scoring off the videotape the following week, he gave it to Eddie Davis. Referee Cortez had it 119-109, judge Hazzard 118-111 for Spinks, hardly a wild disparity. The idea of that title changing hands on a 12 round decision turned my stomach, even though I also thought viewing it at home at the time that Eddie might have shaded it. Yes, Eddie was superbly conditioned, but the slow starting Spinks had tremendous quality championship round experience behind him at that stage, and may well have pulled away more conclusively. Whatever would have happened, I certainly felt cheated without three more rounds to better settle matters. (This was a significant episode in converting me from a boxing enthusiast to a former fan.)
What is amazing to me is, Spinks actually weighed a light 170 for his last title defense in June 1985 against "Diamond" Jim MacDonald and was a solid 200 for his challenge to Lawrence Holmes in Sept. on HBO...... That's 30 pounds of muscle put on in 90 days....... I was impressed with Spinks in fight # 1 with Holmes...... However, Holmes was soft and un-focused at Michael Spinks during his camp for fight # 1 of 1985....... Holmes figured he'd walk Spinks down and stop him in 10......... BIG MISTAKE!! MR.BILL
I was interested in this part. What about this : 3 minutes rounds then break is gay-*****-homo-tranny-shemale-pillowbiting-cumfarting-castrated version of real life / reality : 1 round last man standing , or at least : 1 20minutes round , what about this genius ? bad ? why ? want to make it 1 30 minutes round ? ok , still what I meant.
