Why do you think that Ali mentioned Foster in the Mayo Clinic report, and not someone else? Why did Ali toy after he got cut for the first time in his career?
Probably more brain damaged than he realised. :yep He didn't toy after that, he was toying until Foster got through with decent shots. He was toying early on (particularly round 3) and hadn't been cut then. Foster got through in round 4, then Ali got down to business opening up in the 5th- the round he predicted he'd win. Then it was all one-sided.
...the other one being Sonny Liston, who barely landed a solid blow. Yep, he wasn't dazed against Cooper- not one jot. Because he didn't mention it at the Mayo Clinic. :huh
Some absolute joke report by doctors to the Nevada Commission to allow a slurring, clearly unfit Ali to fight Larry Holmes (we all know what happened there). To 'prove' he was fit, among other things, he claimed he'd only been dazed twice in around 60 fights- against Foster and Liston. Notice how he didn't mention a time when he was floored and obviously in bad trouble vs , say, Cooper, especially. The conversation would have been in the vein of: "Oh, I wasn't dazed at all then, but I was vs Liston and Foster and see how you can barely notice. I'm fit to fight Doc. Here's 200 bucks for your trouble." The report has been totally lambasted ever since as complete bull****. Ali couldn't even put his finger to his nose properly. But he could fart and chew gum at the same time- but even then he followed through. :good
There's no doubt that Cooper as well as Frazier, Shavers and even Foreman had Ali more dazed than Foster and Liston did. He stayed right in front of Foster after taking his best shot and floored him once again just seconds after. Just another proof that you shouldn't take fighters at their words. "Ok, George, so who hit you the hardest...?"
