A few points about the technical issues in this match up:

Both men's best shot is the left hook. Jones has the quicker better left hook, the quicker left hook tends to land first when 2 hookers meet

Foster crouches giving up his height looking to lure in an opponent to set up the counter hook. This leaves a clear opening for the lead shots and Jones lead right and hook is far faster than anything Foster has come across so he may pay for setting such a trap

Foster's rangy jab is a weapon he can time on Jones to set up shots and a big factor for him

Resume - Jones clearly has the deeper more proven resume with better opponents

Power and Chin wise - both have been ko'd and both are the biggest LHW punchers either had faced. This makes it a who lands first and most accurately wins

I have to go with the man I see landing first and being more accurate - Roy Jones Junior KO6

I've never seen Jones bothered by jabs.

He thinks Mayweather´s resume rivals Armstrong´s. What do you think?

That´s a tough one. Thunder vs. lighning. I don´t think Jones will stop Foster. Foster could be stopped but all those guys who did were hws and/or early in his careers. I also think Jones wouldn´t be offensive enough to stop Foster. However, if it goes to the cards, it is Jones´fight and quite clearly too I think. Question is if it goes there. Don´t know. I assume out of 10 fights Jones sees the end 2-3 times. Hanging in there for 15 rounds with a puncher like Foster while having a quite dentable chin is a tricky business. Jones can do it but it would be rather the exception than the rule.

I don't like Jones against a long armed puncher like Foster. Too much of a beast for Jones who I prefer at 160-168. I wouldn't be overly confident picking against him at those weights but at 175 I feel some guys would be too physically big, powerful and be able to shrug off his punches with more success than smaller guys.

As a resume as a whole easily, even at LHW, RJJ has Tarver, Hill, Harding (who beat Tarver/Griffin), McCallum, Reggie Johnson compared to Foster's wins over Dick Tiger, Rondon, Finnegan, Quarry. Foster's resume is uninspiring 1 but he was massively dominant, it does raise questions though about how he does against better opposition.

Earlier in his career he faced 2 of his best opponents in Doug Jones and Folley and was dominated both times, however he was probably green and probably improved after this.

Which I outlined in the thread, Armstrong's resume isn't that amazing and Mayweather's is underrated with him being a modern fighter. If you want to debate it goto the thread in question

He has a natural tendency to stoop, which he even did against Frazier and Ali so I don't think he could change his instinctive style

Not that I can't see him scoring a KO, he could, it could go either way

Not usually though but Harding, Griffin and Reggie J had some degrees of success with theirs

For such a tall fighter Foster gave up his height way too easily for my liking.

Thanks, I pass. Your base hypothesis is already so flawed that anyone who isn´t a huge fan of Mayweather can see that this comparison is ridiculous.

So we're too assume foster would again give up his height.

The question then has to be is jones's advantage in speed enough to negate foster's reach?

Foster had great timing and he'd need only 1 opportunity in my opinion.

The fight won't be in the pocket, it will be at range.

Can jones get in and out before shipping any leather?
