I think that the long jab of Foster would really trouble Jones. Either he would, in trying to get around it, get caught with something big, or it would keep him at bay while and until foster set him up.

    I disagree.

With Foster crouching low he won't have his reach advantage. Jones is quicker in both feet and hand.

He should beat Foster to the punch for the most part.

However I do think Foster will patiently bait and set Jones up, it's gonna be a matter of endurance imo.

Foster can carry his power over 15 rounds so Jones has a lot to do to avoid his shots all night. it isn't insurmountable, i'm just not sure if it's favourable.

glad to see there's very little of the usual classic forum "if he even TOUCHES his chin, (insert fighter) will knock jones clean out!" that said, foster is one of 5 or so at 175 i see giving jones hell, win or lose

I think that´s often underrated. If you are in with a fighter like Foster who can knock you out at any moment and also puts great pressure on you, this takes it´s oll physically. It´s exhausting and will lead to you making mistakes. And making mistakes is something you can´t afford to make against a guy like Foster.

Foster half crouched in all his major fights. his jab came up from his waist he had no trouble reaching shorter guys ,[who wasn't at light heavy?].

Roy outclasses him and makes it look easy.

To paraphrase Chris Finnegan regarding Foster, 'Its like fighting on a tightrope.'

As much as I love RJJ, this is not a good fight for him... Foster, too many physical advantages, height and reach. and his frightening power, he`d need only one shot,to put out RJJ`s lights. And yes, Foster had that kind of power, and he could box too...RJJ would have some moments, and even make Foster look bad at times. But, at some point Foster would corner him and when he did and lands flush, you get the picture. I mean look at what Tarver did, and he is nowhere near the class of puncher that Foster was..

Tired, isn't it. Some close their eyes in spite to anything past the early 80's.

I like Foster for reasons given already by some of the more balanced and thoughtful posters. Foster's timing is good and he carries his power all night. He also has some underrated hand speed imo. I do think Fosters reach advantage will come into this due to his speed, power threat and jab. Jones ridiculous evasiveness and countering snap will have this competitive but i see Foster getting the money over 15, not because Jones durablity is suspect but because Foster just hits so damn hard and consistently. He could take out just about any 175 ever given the right circs.

    I think Jones can do.

Been mulling over it for a while and I think if Jones plays the right potshotting game plan he can keep out of harms way.

I think he has enough power to stop Foster attempting a reckless bulldoze because he'll catch him off balance and maybe score a flash knockdown.

Foster's attack by the late stages will reduced to a stalking jab (shouldn't trouble jones with his movement, angles, speed, reflexes and accuracy) and then the odd wild swing as he attempts to decapitate Roy, but Jones should just stay out of range.

Jones might be seen as overly negative in the final few rounds so the decision will pan out being a 9-6 type affair (I see Jones schooling foster early on).

I wouldn't bet money on this fight because it's literally a 51-49 type affair imo. But having a gun to my head I'd pick Jones.
