As much as I was a fan of "The Preying Mantis" aka Bob Foster, I think Tommy Loughran would have outboxed him for a 15 round decision.
Hm, what do you think about Foster´s jab? Wouldn´t it trouble Loughran? I don´t know I can´t see anybody beating Foster at lhw not even Charles or Moore.
No one was more adept at avoiding jabs and HEAVYWEIGHT jabs included, as Loughran. Tommy was a far better fighter than Pierre Fourrie, who twice went 15 rounds with Foster and I believe he would have won a decision over Foster with pure boxing and a great chin. Loughran would have had no trouble finding Foster with lefts.
And you think Foster couldn´t do what Tunney did, knocking down Loughran - or even out? Just playing devil´s advocat here.
Without picking a winner I could see this one unfolding somewhat like the Loughran Lomski title fight. Loughran would be forced to throw every trick in the book at Foster.
No one in Foster's long line of title victims was nearly, remotely as good as Loughran. Stylistically, I believe that Loughran could handle Foster, and like I said, I believe that Foster was one of the very greatest, so I'm not undervalueing him here, it's again, like I said, a stylistic thing, and remember that Tommy's chin was VERY good, when you could find it, that is.
