bob foster vs tommy morrison....

bob tried to be the heavyweight champ a few times and was never sucessful how would he do with a prime tommy morrison?

 

Foster only fought for the world title once ,against Frazier,he just could not handle the better class of heavyweights .Morrison kos him inside 4rds.

The great Foster had so business in the heavy division...he didn't play well. Morrison would hurt him early and stop him.

Having something of a sadistic streak, I enjoy squash matches like this.

Bob wasn't like Louis, Dempsey or Marciano, in that he could have weighed well over 200 pounds had he attempted to gain some heft. But even if he used steroids like career ending rival Hazleton (his heaviest opponent) and Tommy himself, he still wouldn't have had anything approaching the necessary punch resistance, and his power seemed to abandon him completely when competing against any world class adversary above 175. Bob was actually floored by Eddie Vick, who had no stoppage wins in 29 bouts. He never showed he could compete as a heavyweight. Dropped over a dozen times, he didn't have a great chin (although lasting the distance with Folley after Zora had dropped Bonavena was respectable). Tommy did take some good shots from Foreman, and got up to stop Ruddock.

In this case, Tommy might not even need his hook. His jab alone could well be hard enough to deck Bob, and he was perfectly capable of using his right to knock out lesser competition. As always, Bob's stilted lack of mobility would cost him dearly.

Morrison would outweigh Bob by 35 lbs and hits much harder.

I've often wondered if he would have embraced steroids as Hazleton did if it had occurred to him before he challenged Joe. Steroids were legal, used openly, and didn't have the same stigma attached to them then. Of course he would never admit today that he might have considered it at the time. But they were rampant in the 1960s, banned by the IOC only in 1967, and big money was to be made as a heavyweight relative to how weak 175 was with Bob utterly dominant in the lighter class. He delusionally states today that he would have knocked Frazier and Ali out had he weighed just a few more pounds. In late 1970, steroids would have been the ticket for gaining him that extra poundage. (Then, after Smoke kicked his ass anyway, maybe Bob wouldn't have attempted that subsequent heavyweight foray with Ali.)

Interestingly, steroids didn't prevent Hazleton from being knocked out by a 39 year old Bob the first time. In their rematch, Foster became the only fighter Hazelton ever defeated who retired with a winning record. They're not going to turn a shitty boxer into a great one.

 

Charles, Tunney and Spinks would all have a good shot at beating him.

Foster doesn't have a heavyweight chin, as shown in his fights with Frazier and Ali. Barring a lucky punch, he'd get owned by Morrison in brutal fashion.
