Bob Foster was technically better than both Ward and Kovalev

He would have given both trouble but he was too tall and making the weight would eventually grt him. michael spinks is the best lightheavyweight i have seen he never loss and he was undisputed champ.

 

I suspect that Kovalev would knock Foster out..............Ward? Foster would laugh at him...............

 

ward could tame foster. kovalev would get mauled because he can't resist the traps foster would set to slug foster power and right hand would be too much.

 

Foster is arguably a top 3 ATG at LHW he stops both and brutally.

 

He lost to Folley and Ellis too, easily.

 

Jimmy Ellis and Zora Folley were helluva fighters. There is no shame in losing to them. I don't think Foster is more skilled than either Ward or Kovalev but there is no doubt in my mind that he would stop both of them. Edit I just checked and could find no loss by Foster to Ellis.

These guys aren't old enough and don't know enough about Foster or his comp to discuss Fosters greatness. They have the "if I don't recognize his name, then he fought bad opposition" mentality.

 

I think foster is getting a little too much credit for his heavyweight campaign here

 

Foster had a great jab and great right hand behind it. He wasn't defensive minded like Hearns could be, but Foster knew how to use range and he used it well. He busted up Ali's face with his jab, what you think he'd do with Ward's and Kov's ffs? Foster wasn't more skilled than either Ward or Kov, but his jab alone would humble both. If you think Krusher's right hand was terrifying you'd crap your scooby doo underwear when you see Foster use his. Just as devastating if not more. His left hook was pretty brutal too.

This. Just because Wilder and other modern heavyweights are bigger it doesn't make them better. Wilder would never land a glove on Prime Chris Bryd, who wasn't half the Fighter Ali was.
