Bob Foster.... would the cruiserweights had been too much for him?

Had he been around in the era of cruiserweights ( any era ) would he have gone further in this class than he had at heavyweight?

Keep in mind some of the heavyweights he lost to could've/would've been cruiserweights by today's standards.

    Yes.

His chin was not made to stand up to a good fighter over 175 lbs.

He was stopped 4 that actually matter. 3 of those to guys who did or would hold the heavyweight title, 2 of which are considered by most to be top 10-15 all time. The other time he was a last minute sub for a very good fighter in Foley vs another very good fighter in Jones.

Personally I think hed do ok. He wouldnt be giving up the 20-40lbs he often did fighting heavies

Doug Jones floored Ali so faulting Foster by being stopped by him is a bit flawed.

Bobby Foster would've struggled with dudes like "Carlos DeLeon, S.T. Gordon, Leon Spinks, Dwight M. Qawi, Holy, Bernard Benton, Alfonso Ratliff, Ossie Ocasio, James Warring, Alfred Cole, Leroy Murphy," and a few other melon farmers at 190 pounds.... I'm Sure that Foster could've and would've beaten SOME of the farmers listed above, however, he would've been dealt a few losses, as well....... Bob Foster was special between 170 to 180 pounds, but he was average upward of 190 pounds........ Peace......

Struggled against THAT overall bunch? You've simply got to be kidding

Whilst some would be difficult and indeed beat him the inclusion of at least 3 or 4 of that bunch is an insult.

The problem with Foster was the lack of a solid foundation. Not in the sense of durability, but positioning. Foster liked to dictate with his flicking jab, but the heavyweights got close, invading his comfort zone; a guy like Tiger could of never hassled Foster, Frazier was the nightmare match-up because of the strength difference.

Saying all of that Foster would have had success against other heavyweights, never mind cruiserweights. His power was good enough and he had the cagey qualities to make you eat lights-out counters. Give him a heavyweight with fair power and you've got a good fight.

Ali would have hit the deck if he was not so sturdy.

That's a rather big call! Qawi was anything but a genuine Cruiser regardless of his effort vs Holyfield. I adore Dwight but Foster and he is a great match. Qawi beating him that easy is a massive leap of faith.

He wasn't giving up THAT much weight.. it's not like he was fighting today's heavies, or anything. He just seemingly had troudle handling big men that could deal with his power.

I just tossed a few extra farmers in there to make it interesting...... I never liked "Ocasio, Gordon, Benton or Murphy" all that much..... Still, they were solid dudes at 190 pounds....

I have several Bob Foster title fights and he did defend against a few pugs himself at 175......

OH! I like that chicks ass on the side..... Are you taxing it?

Yes he was. The heavys that beat him out weighed him considerably. Foster fought at heavy between 180-190lbs, i dont even think he got that heavy. Ali, Frazier and Terrel were significantly heavier. Jones wasnt but as i said Bob was a late sub for Folley in that fight.

A lot of the cruisers are blown up light heavys.....Holyfield would be a problem Moorer could cause some trouble but 175 to 200 is not as bad as jumping up to fight Ali and Frazier in the 210-220 range from 175 and Foster cut Ali and stunned Joe so he still had pop but was frail for a Heavy.....I think Holy would be a problem but not too many others

Dwight M. Qawi showed nothing at 175 against Michael Spinks on HBO back in 1983... I was livid about that fight and outcome.... While I expected Spinks to win, I also expected a battle for the ages, as well... Well, the fight was awfully tactical and dull... Spinks won a boring but unanimous decision over Qawi....

HOWEVER! The Qawi who fought as a Cruiserweight champion against Leon Spinks and Evander Holyfield in 1986 was momentairly re-energized, and he would've been a tough sum ***** for Bob Foster in a time machine............ Qawi got screwed on Showtime in 1987 against Ossie Ocasio...... Everybody who saw that fight knew Qawi deserved the win...... But that was the end of Qawi's prime...... After he was KO'd by Holy in the '87 rematch, Qawi was never the same ball of fire....... Peace......
