U,yes I have heard about that, BUT aside from the "low" punches Billy Conn gave Bob Pastor a severe shellacking in 1940 at MSG. Billy Conn at this time in his career had few equals as a lightheavyweight...And may I add, few equals as a middleweight. Just look at his record who without one amateur bout, took on the toughest assortment of middleweights of a golden age of 160 pounders...Billy had a "brave" manager, Johnny Ray a stablemate of Harry Greb, who from the git go threw young Conn to the lions to sink or swim. Ironic that one of conns 16 stoppages in some 80 fights came against one of the hardest men to get out of there.
I suppose we can debate quite a bit on who the "most" underrated heavyweight of all time was/is.. But I think anyone can agree that bob pastor had to be among some of the most underrated
I imagine against bigger, slower guys Conn could really plant himself and swing as hard as he wanted. Can't do that against guys more your own speed.
