That's cool. Bob was definately a great fighter who deserves a lot of respect. Frankly, I'd like to see more footage of him. He represented everything that boxing should be about.
In fairness, Williams was an Immature teenager at the time taking the fight on last minute notice. His wins over big fully established prime contenders bob baker and nino valdez both 6'3 215lbers very very impressive. I like my man bowe in this one, early in a barnburner
Oh, that´s Foreman rules. He´s always complaining about racism against blacks and insulting people. Nobody to take serious.
I wouldn't pick Satterfield to beat Riddick Bowe either, but hey this is a chat forum, and if everyone agreed, we'd run out of things to talk about fast.
Agreed mate, Legacy wise, I don't have him rated very high, but head to head I think he'd be a formidable foe for a lot of past greats.
I think this would be a great fight. Satterfield land far more often and some massive blows but Bowe soaking up the punishment and doing far more damage when he does land. Not totally unlike the Holyfield Bowe fight. I think Bowe would stop him late. The Sattersfield v lamotta fight sounds interesting. You would have to imagine that Bowes chin was every bit as good, probably better than Lamottas despite lamottas middleweight reputation. Still, despite being a "slow Middleweight" you would think that he would be 3 or 4 times as fast as Bowe, so in theory he would land on Sattersfield a lot more without taking too much punishments and his chin would not be tested as bad. Does anyone have a link to a report on a Sattersfield vs Lamotta fight report?
You are right Chris and Clevelend "Big Cat" Williams was 31-1 with 27 KO's and 6"3 and 26yrs old, Bob KO'd him in 3 rds. Satterfield also had a dominant win over 6"3 Nino Valdez dropping Nino for a 9 count in the last rd. Satterfield's 1st rd Ko over 6"2 Bob Baker was also impressive. Satterfield handled the big guys but had trouble with the faster hand skilled guy like Ezzard Charles. Bowe was slow and got hit an awfull lot and I would not be suprised if he was KO'd by Satterfield. I give Bowe a slight edge because of size and durability but his size could work against him here.
Almost a rite of passage in that era. Williaams was truly one of heavyweight boxing's most over-rated entities.
