Hard to argue. On the plus side there's no favouritism. But there's not much professionalism either.

If saving money on announcers makes the difference between it being viable for channel ONE or not, I'm happy to run with these guys. Otherwise hey, get some better ones!

he is a kick boxer who has had 2 pro boxing fights for 2 round 1 knock outs but seems to want to stick with kick boxing.i think he should stick to boxing while the preacher Macphie should stick to kick boxing.he KO'd the australian heavyweight champion john hopoate in 1 round as well as his first round ko last night.

Never have truer words been said! Without doubt, the shittest ring announcer I have ever seen!

    Agreed mate.

Macphie is willing. But even though he's got an extensive kick career behind him looks like a novice at boxing. Credit to Ged O'Mahony though, couldn't have been more impressive. Good am background, fast, accurate hands, and Briggsy in the corner - good mix - huge promise!

Ben Edwards for 21yrs of age is grossly overweight. If he trimmed up 10-12kgs he'd have some type of future in the squared circle.

Lets see how he goes after 3 or 4rds in that condition.

Thanks for the track on this Edwards chap mates, it sounds like he might be a beast, yet when I hear that he is grossly overweight, I tend to turn away.

yes, i do fear that he looks impressive because he puts everything into the 1st round just assuming that there will be no need for round 2. if hoppa had of kept his hands up when they last fought, edwards may have been in trouble after a round or two.

So I just watched Edwards' fight with Hoppa on youtube. He has potential no doubt, based upon what I saw in that fight. But he can't juggle two combat sports at once. If he is serious about boxing, he needs to committ and get in better shape and focus solely on boxing, not both standard and kickboxing.

    Indesputable Beaver.

Wonder how he goes with his kicking? That rips the fat off most blokes. But maybe he has a string of early KOs in that sport too.

Thing is you can train blokes technically and you can get 'em fit, but it's hard to teach blokes to hit like Ben Edwards does.

There's some awesome potential there. But a better level of fitness will improve him, no doubt.

Edwards is a big lad for his age, and yes, he is overweight, but it's really puppyfat that should fall off him over the next couple of years if he sticks with his combat sports.

He has natural power and the killer instinct, and some skills that will only improve if he applies himself to boxing.

I think as boxing fans, or the more, hardcore fans, we're being a little too harsh on these programs. The first one had a bunch of short, KO fights but featured some good scraps and showed a few talented dudes.. The second one I didn't catch a whole lot of unfortunately but again, it had a couple of good showings right? Just not the draw of Vea or Hoppa etc right?

Last night had a good first fight, the womans fight was pretty good imo too... I think over all these cards are doing their job well. They've got kinks to iron out, and they need to incentivise Aussie boxers into testing themselves more, but hopefully some will see the name Vea made for himself overnight simply cuz he proved himself to the public. I even heard people talking about him and SuperBoxer in my WingChun last night...

My biggest complaint - Channel 10 went with 2 of their stock standard sports reporters. Who ever that ****wit is doing post ring interviews, needs to go back to calling V8 supercars. The way he hassled Ben Edwards about talking about Kickboxing was rude and obnoxioius - Edwards was nice, graceful and grateful for the chance to fight and he STILL gave him a hard time the ****. The guy who called the Hoppa / Bob fight, who does all the intros on PayPerViews (forget his name!) should be doing them. He's got a good boxing mind and way of explaining things to a new audience.

Overall, these shows are good. The constructive criticism is good, but we need to remember this is better than NOTHING! And is hopefully on it's way to something better still!

All I can say is man can Mirovic take a punch!. he took some beauties from hoppa and he was still standing.
On the downside, that fight looked like 2 drunks brawling at a pub.

Disapooinited for Bob. If that's his last fight, it's not the way he should go out, though after last night's effort, it seems the decision has been made for him. Hoppa needs some serious work. Watching it again today, there were more hugs than you'd expect at a school reunion.
