given the technical limitations of either fighter and given the fact that both went out on there shields to the phenoms of there era as well as sub elite fighters how do u see this fight going both come foward and brawl, i havent seen a whole lot of chacon fights so i might be underrating his skill level
This was not Bobby's best weight, but the Schoolboy who iron manned his way to a 15 round decision over Limon would have too much stamina for Gatti. He also had a massive right hand bomb, something which made Boza Edwards dance a wild dance in their first match, and dropped him in their rematch. From the time he won the title at 130 onward, Chacon was too hard a worker with too much heart to have his will broken, and too hard a puncher through the whole scheduled distance of a contest for Gatti to prevail against. Given his two prior performances, a real case could be made that his bout with Mancini was stopped prematurely. Ironically, the younger Boom Boom would never win again, while Bobby remained undefeated for the rest of his career. (Considering his age, ringwear, and the lack of dedication and neglect his early featherweight career suffered from, his final major win over Frias was a stunning display of toughness, endurance and late round power.)
I know this is a great battle, to be honest i don't rate Gatti highly (though i respect his fighting heart), but he is not way out of his depth here. I only see Chacon winnign though in a close war.
Gatti could make it semi-competitive on sheer size alone. One of the most renknowned weight cutters in decades.
